Marcus stared at me, his face white. "You're not human," he whispered. "You're a Mute Omega. The rarest wolf in existence." The council elders were shaking. The students were frozen. She whispered something that I couldn't hear, and before I knew what was happening, one of the super quick mutants leaped forward and hit me on the head, knocking me out. My vision started to fade to black.

She looked at the table. At everyone. “She’s here though,” Sandy said. “In the table.” She put her hand flat on the wood. “Mummy told me. The table holds things.” Marcus pressed his lips together. Looked at Zara. Who was looking at the table with the expression she wore when something was too large for any other expression. “Yes,” Marcus said. “It does.” “So she’s here,” Sandy said. Settled. Back to her food. The table was quiet.

He wondered if the feeling can be experienced by werewolves or was it reserved for humans. “Do you want a bite?” Maru asked him tiredly, and he shrugged. He can't say that he wasn't curious. But right now, none of its grandeur could soften the thick tension at Table Nine.
