He had similar features to Xaden, such as his nose and lips. They also had similar body types. However, Zach had blonde hair and ocean-blue eyes, whereas Xaden had black hair and forest-green eyes.

Another one waited in my pocket, just in case. Just in case, if you lose control, you’re dead. Publicly, this place was called the World Hockey Academy—a factory for champions, Olympians, prodigies. Cameras loved it. Sponsors poured money into it. Parents bragged about it. Privately, it was something else entirely. Alpha Academy. An institution built to break wolves and rebuild them stronger. A hierarchy carved in blood, sweat, and enchanted ice. The rink beneath my feet was warded to withstand supernatural force—so Alphas could hit harder, skate faster, and fight without restraint.

My chest aches so badly that it feels hard to breathe. “And nothing even happened,” I cry. “We never even—” “I know,” Xavier says immediately. I had no idea what that was supposed to mean, and before I could even think of processing it, Xander was gone; the space where his body had been close, nearly pressing against mine, was now empty. Startled, I spun around, searching him out, only to see him near the church, beside the bushes. Without even thinking, I started moving towards him, but he turned to me before I was even halfway there – he held up a man, struggling in his grip. He stared at me, those eyes of his glowing violet, and he hissed, “You need to understand something now: I am not a hero.” And then he quickly jerked the man to his chest and sunk his fangs deep into his neck.

"Mr. Blackwood, do you know there's a saying that goes, 'The villain dies from talking too much'?" Xander furrowed his brows as he was confused by Hesper's question, then he sensed a foreboding sensation. In the next moment, everything became blurry, and he felt his strength leaving his body. "Mr. Blackwood, you have remarkable physical fitness. It seems you've undergone resistance training against drugs too," Hesper said, lifting herself slightly to observe Xander. Her lips curled into a dangerous yet captivating smile. However, in the following second, Xander completely lost consciousness and passed out.
