The windows are down, the wind is blowing in my hair and I’m not sure I could be any happier than I am in this moment with my mate and brother beside me, loving life. The time flies and before I’m ready for it to end, we arrive at Canyon Ridge. Uncle Rik and Aunt Cara are there to greet us, as are Cohen and Clint. We get out and greet everyone before heading inside to join the festivities. It’s time for the third and final Alpha in our tight group to take over as Alpha of his pack. "Hello, sir. My apologies for the inconvenience. I didn't know the room situation would be so… stressful for the Alpha." Mr. Darius's eyes widened a little. "You… you two know each other?" Riven opened his mouth to say something, but I was faster. I just smiled, a simple, disarming smile. "Yes, sir. We just met today. But we’re teammates on the hockey team. He's my captain, so..." Mr. Darius’s face brightened immediately. "Oh! That's wonderful! That's even better! This is a good thing then! You two can get to know each other better as teammates. I don’t like thinking about any of it, but it’s impossible not to. I make my way outside. The property is heavily guarded again, just like it used to when my father was Alpha, but this time, most of the guys standing around are from the hockey team. Sure, there are other guards to keep an eye on them, but right now, it’s difficult to find out who I can trust, and who I can’t. “Good morning, Alpha.” “Good morning.” I walk through the property. The feeling in my chest doesn’t subside and it takes everything for me to force myself to wait and not race toward Moonveil right this second.

I say, breaking the silence in the car. “Yeah?” Lance answers, but Atlas doesn’t move. He just stares ahead as we drive back to the apartment. “What could possibly go wrong if we go see the hockey game tonight?” I ask, glancing at my phone. “We are not here to have fun, Silver,” Lance replies, polite but firm. “I know,” I sigh. “I just want us to go to the arena the Elder Alpha played in before.” Atlas finally shifts. “This is a good opportunity to see what he did while he was in the human world.”
