I wasn’t the one behind the leaks about her fooling around. Why did she have to use her brother as material to target me?”

Paulina woke to the sound of her phone buzzing on the nightstand. The faint light of dawn was just beginning to creep into the room. She grabbed the phone, her heart sinking when she saw Leila’s name on the screen. “Leila?” she answered, her voice groggy but alert. “It’s bad, Paulina,” Leila said, her voice tense. “We’ve had another breach. Nala POV - Nala prided herself on her ability to stay calm in stressful situations. At Mountain Forest, the women who tried to join the warriors were often tested in stupid ways to see if they could keep their emotions in check. Those who screamed or cried during these ‘tests' were called out and deemed unfit by their comrades. Though they couldn’t have their warrior titles removed, the women often left that career due to the bullying the ensued. The senior warriors saw the treatment and turned a blind eye. They wanted it to happen. In their minds, it culled the unfit who never should've been allowed to join in the first place.

Now she just looked tired and worried. "I told him about the vision." Afnie went pale. I looked between the two of them and felt my confusion hardening into something closer to fear. "What vision?" Nala's eyes met mine. "A long time ago I had a vision that I've been keeping secret. A vision about you and Xahen." My heart stuttered. "What was the vision?" Nala held up her hand to stop me. "Before I tell you, I need to confess something." Her voice was steady but her eyes were not. "Xahen knows now too. I told him everything this morning."

However, that did nothing to Adriel, who seemed extremely excited by her fury. He stood up and began to walk toward her, closing the distance until only the edge of the table separated them. Slowly, he leaned forward and whispered, his eyes locked on hers. “You don’t have leverage anymore, Nyla.” Nyla met his gaze without flinching. “I have backups. Cloud, external drive, and hidden partition. I told you I've set everything to auto-release." She drew closer and added with a stern face. "One missed check-in, and every news channel, every law enforcement contact, every rival you’ve ever dealt with will get the full unmasked Maestro reveal.”
