Chapter 1 – Going Rouge!

Christa's PoV

Morning routine carried on as normal, cleaning, making breakfast, going to school, and cooking lunch, being bullied, abused and so on. Oh yea, you may have noticed, I'm the omega of the pack.

Let me introduce myself, I'm Christa M. Carter (Chris for short). I am currently 14 years old and an optimist. I am located in the Night Moon Pack, as for why I'm here, well since my mother died when I was 5 years old, and with no one to look after me, I soon became an orphan who was later admitted into an orphanage where I began to work and learn some skills which wasn't as bad but a few months afterwards I was kidnapped by a gang of misdeeds who plan to kill me but instead abused me for 2 years before I was saved by my uncle who is the alpha of the night moon pack so now I'm here to repay by debt.

However, instead of saying I was saved, it's more like I was brought into another hell. With the need to repay my debt to the alpha and Luna who saved me but also to suffer the abuse and criticisms of the pack members and the pack’s soon to be alpha inside and outside of school in secret.

Many people may wonder why I don’t tell the current Alpha and Luna but cower into a corner, well think about it. If someone suddenly came to you and say your son or daughter is abusive and other negative comments about them, as a parent whose side would you take?

And for those who are wondering why I went into an orphanage when I would've stayed with my dad after my mother's death. Well, that is because I don't know who my birth father is, the only thing I know is that he left us to fend for ourselves.

Over the years I've stayed here in the pack house, acting as their omega, I've realised life was hard and I had no one that I could talk to about my feelings. However, that didn't keep me down, I was an optimistic wolf, I don't get defeated easily, even if I was abused both physically and mentally, my spirit would never falter or break. I was always looking forward to the future.

And it is due to this that I met my first and only friend within the Night Moon Pack, her name was Lydia Rose. The daughter of the Night Moon Pack’s beta. She is pretty and kind-hearted however looks can be deceiving, as we got to know each other. Overtime, I found out that she was more of a troublemaker and also quite daring, unafraid of telling others about her opinions which sometimes I envy a lot however it might be due to her position making her more of a carefree person than me who has no one.

I looked over at the time, it was already 8:45am, everyone was already out preparing for the alpha's coming of age ceremony, he was going to turn 18 today so I'm busier than normal, along with my daily duties, I would also have to prepare for the afternoon party.

But before all of that, I quickly tidied myself up and went to school.

~At school~

Ring, ring the school bell sounds alerting students of the start of first lesson.

Just as the bell rings, I arrive to my locker, quickly unlocking it and grabbing my maths textbook alongside my calculator and pencil case, I then swiftly headed towards the maths classroom, looking down trying to avoid all eye contact to others so no fuss can be directed at me as I made my way towards the back of the classroom, seating myself down on the desk next to the windows as I look outside breathing in the fresh air.

I know what some of you may be thinking, “she must be a student who ignores the teacher and stare out the window in a daze throughout all her lessons” right.

Well, I'm not that type of person, I just sat near the window so I could be out of everyone sight and experience the fresh air and ignore the eyes of everyone else that comes into the classroom who may judge or comment about me. And looking out the window is a way for me to calm myself and a great distraction to help me avoid others.  

By the time that the second bell rang signalling the start of lessons, we started to do some algebra calculations along with some problem solving. Everyone was asked to partner up but like always I sat by myself and like always I get the top marks.

Despite this, no one dares to partner up with me due to the commands of the stupid soon to be alpha. But to be honest I don't care, I'll be out of their hair soon, my debt is nearly paid off, after today's party I could pay off all my debts, I've stayed here for almost 7 years, it's nearly time for me to leave this cruel and miserable place.

After school, I was the first one to arrive back to the pack house, me alongside other pack members who were responsible for decorating the hall in preparation for this afternoon’s banquet and celebration of the so called soon to be alpha’s 18^th birthday.

Lydia on the other hand who didn’t need to help also came along to see me which I was glad, “hi there, what are you doing?' She asked amusingly.

“Preparing for the 18th birthday of someone famous!” I said sarcastically.

Lydia chuckled as I said such words, well I am partially right, he is famous for his playboy acts, he swings around his authority and gains the attention of many female wolves, who knows how many he slept with.

Wait, if it's his 18th birthday, it means he'll get his wolf today alongside finding his mate! Maybe he already found her, well if he did, she must be a very unlucky girl.

“So, when are you thinking of taking off” Lydia asked out of the blue cutting me out of my thought process.

“I'm thinking maybe today, my debts would be fully paid off after today's party anyways, I've stayed long enough, and I just want to experience the world more before I die” I said smiling at her with determination towards my goal.

She nodded, quite sad that I won't be staying longer. We have become quite close friends over the past 7 years. And to be honest, I was reluctant to leave her side but nevertheless my goal is not to stay in this hell hole. Just as I carried on with my work, I was suddenly enveloped with a hug, “I'll miss you when you’re gone” as I felt tears sinking into my clothes.

I sadly smiled, “I'll miss you too!”

“Oh, what have we got here. A touching scene isn't it, James.” As one of the school famous bad boys (Alfie) said towards the so called soon to be alpha which caught me and Lydia by surprise.

However, what seems to be trifling was the fact that James has nothing to say but stay there frozen and staring at me.

I looked at him confused with his unusual action, he would normally go along with his so-called friends’ action and harass me, but he did nothing.

“What's wrong man” Alfie asked James who was pulled out of his daze.

“Nothing, anyways we should go, the party is about to start” as James quickly stormed away with Alfie following him close behind.

“What was that about?” Lydia asked

I just shook my head, not knowing either.

~few minutes later~

All the preparations were finally done, there was nothing I need to do so instead I went up to the attic and into my room, well if you could call it as a room, the damaged sheets, creaking floorboard alongside holes in the wall with the paint peeling away. There was not really any space to walk around except to sleep.

As I was on the way up the pair of stairs through the emptied corridor, I was suddenly slammed into the wall making a big thud. I looked up and saw the bluish eyes of James staring down at me with disgust and rejection. Confused and angered, I pushed him away but to no avail, he was stronger than me, holding onto me and tightening his grip that may now have made a bruise.

I gave up and stared at him until he opens his mouth but still nothing, just how I wish I'll be out of this house and to never see this stupid soon to be alpha again, “What do you want, shouldn't you be at the main house?”

As I said that, he was suddenly pulled out of his daze, “I...” He said unconfidently which is unusual but after the fidget, he looked into my eyes with determination along with some confidence which didn't scare me at all until he said, “I reject you, Christa M carter as my mate and the future Luna of the night moon pack.”

I looked at him confused but then a sudden pain went through me, like my heart was suddenly ripped out of me. By the time he saw me in pain, he was smirking. I then gained my confidence and hid my pain and looked back into his eyes to not give him the satisfaction of breaking me. I smiled at him, “I accept your rejection and hereby withdraw my position as the future Luna” I said confidentially which shocked him even more.

As he was speechless and frozen in place, I pushed him away and stormed into my room. Sliding down the door, the pain was unbearable. I guess I was unlucky after all huh...

As the pain subsided, it was already dark outside, I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote my farewell note before I left for good.

I grabbed my bag that was already prepared for this day and ran as quickly as I could until I reached the borders where I broke my bond to the pack and as I was out of sight and nowhere near the pack, I felt all the pressure has gone away, I have now become a full-fledged rogue.

Now, I'm finally free!
