Not after he made the decision to declare his love to me. I close my eyes, trying to shake away the atrocious memories from my mind, but they’re like a tape set on replay. As she began to sob, I couldn't help but think about how quickly everything had changed. "Which hospital, please?" she asked, her voice now urgent. "City General Hospital," I replied before she abruptly ended the call. Placing the phone back in my pajamas pocket, I resumed pacing back and forth, my mind consumed with worry for Nathan. Through the transparent wall, I could catch glimpses of Nathan lying in the hospital bed, surrounded by the medical team as they worked tirelessly to save him.

Halsey looks at Nathan, wondering what’s going on. Nathan is chagrined by Daniel’s question. He doesn’t want to talk about his mother with anyone else. None of his friends know that Debrah is in the hospital for treatment. He lies to them and says that Debrah works abroad so she isn’t home all the time. Now, Halsey will start asking questions and his mother’s condition will be exposed! The last thing Nathan wants is other people’s sympathy. “Did something happen to Mrs. Jacobs?” Halsey asks.

He swiftly dialed Cole's number, walking away as the call connected. Fenna shoved the doctor aside, hobbling after Nathan in a panic. "Nate, I'm still injured. Where are you going? Are you just going to abandon me like this?" However, Nathan was too consumed by his concerns to heed her cries. As Cole picked up the phone, urgency laced his voice. "General Morrison, something's happened to Mrs. Morrison. You need to come to the hospital immediately." At that moment, Nathan felt his heart shatter. His mind went blank, and he dashed out of the hospital in a panic, feeling as if he were sprinting a hundred yards.

I truly couldn’t bring myself to do such a thing. Nathan: Where are you? Noticing that I remained silent for a long time, Nathan spoke again, this time with concern. It seemed that he was worried about me. Me: I’m at West Northam right now, I replied. After telling him where I was, I continued to sob. Nathan: Wait for me. Then he hung up. Hearing the beeping tone, I felt even more wronged. Nathan wasn’t just a man I had been intimate with several times in the past. In fact, he was the only person who could give me warmth.

"Oh, right. You used to work at the hospital, so you must have seen her there. She's pregnant now, and Hendrix goes with her to almost every checkup.
