"What of it?" "In the past there was a group called necromancers, they were vampires who discovered a way to become stronger through drinking the right type of blood" Raphael gave her a glance "Every being on earth has their own special blood, but drink that of a high alpha werewolf, and a noble vampire, it opens a whole new world of possibility" "What does a necromancer do?" Rebecca asked. "Dark magic, bring the dead back to life, some want to use its power to conquer the world, me, I want to cure the vampire curse"

The grave hadn’t only held Reive under the ground but also diminished his magic powers and didn’t allow him to restore them. Still, the necromancer had tried. All these years. Every time he noticed some warm-blooded creature run across his field, he fell upon it through the ground with the ghostly cords of the Dark, sucking out its life and magic in their entirety. They were usually foxes, moles or hares. Sometimes, when a human being came into sight, the necromancer tried to kill him, too. But the last time this had happened was so long ago that Reive didn’t even remember whether he’d managed to do it. Mages usually resisted, and only complete non-mages were helpless against Reive.

"Being abroad sounds glamorous, but it's rough out there, right? Whatever gigs you picked up there might not fly here. Some are straight-up illegal. Buddy, need intros? My uncle's firm needs a guard. Low bar, just basic skills. The pay's not high, but it's legit. Better than your old..." Liam trailed off suggestively, implying unsavory escapades.

I grunted. "Well, this one is important. Since you're new you might not know this, but everyone here is playing a death game. An assasination and survival game to be exact." "A 'what' game!?" I almost raised my voice, "What do you mean?" now saying it softer.

Alessia repeated, her voice uncertain. The Time Keeper nodded and raised his hand. A delicate bracelet appeared, floating in the air before her. It was simple yet beautiful, with a thin silver chain and a single gem that shimmered like captured starlight. "This bracelet will guide you," he said. "You have 31 days to complete your task. Find the human whose soul is intertwined with yours. Only they can bring your spirit fully back to life. When the task is complete, the bracelet will cut, and your path to life will open."

“I am you. Or part of you, technically. I’m Nyx and I’ve been sleeping inside your head since you were about three months old. I’m your wolf.” Right. I had a wolf now, which made sense given the whole werewolf thing except it really didn’t make sense at all because shifters were supposed to manifest during puberty and I was nineteen and had never shifted or heard voices in my head before today. “Where am I?” I asked, wrapping my translucent arms around myself even though I couldn’t feel anything. “And how do I get out?” “The Spirit Realm,” Nyx said. “It’s the place between worlds where dead things linger and living things aren’t supposed to be able to reach. As for getting out, that’s compli
