The micro-fics and headcanon threads there capture their dynamic in these tiny, sharp moments AO3's longform stuff sometimes misses—like Pitou's confusion over human grief expressed through preserving Kite's body, treated almost like a morbid courtship ritual.

That said, the tagging system on AO3 is unbeatable for filtering. You can really drill down into 'canon divergence - Kite lives' or 'body horror' or 'unreliable narrator,' which is crucial for a pairing built on such a specific, brutal canon event. I'd start a search there, sort by kudos, then lurk tags on Tumblr to find writers who do more experimental, in-character stuff.
