Chapter 1: The Neglected Wife Lila Voss stood at the kitchen sink, staring out the window at the quiet suburban street while the water ran over the dinner plates. It was the same view she had seen for the past three years. Nothing ever changed. Behind her, her husband Ethan sat at the dining table, scrolling through his phone with one hand while eating with the other. He hadn’t said more than ten words to her since he got home from work. The television was on in the living room, playing some mindless show neither of them was really watching.
