My nails lengthened into claws, my teeth sharpened, and my skin rippled as fur bloomed across my arms. Neva emerged. She stood tall and regal, her fur shimmering like moonlit frost, her eyes burning with a fierce blue glow. Her paws dug into the earth, anchoring her as the storm of light danced around us. She howled—loud and violent—a sound that cracked through the air like lightning splitting a mountaintop. People began to gather outside the tomb, drawn by the power. Luna Valarie stumbled back, her eyes wide. And then—she did something no one had ever done to Neva.

Here, my crow had purple spots, and this one was pure black. Wait… I gasped at the realization. No way. No fucking way!

"The scent of cheap whiskey and rot-gut moonshine doesn't suit a fallen Ashford, Lyra." Alpha Tristan Crowne stood silhouetted against the reinforced glass of the Crowne Dominion Tower, his back to me. The city lights of the Cheshire Territory flickered like dying embers below us.

"Is this the end?" Kaelor stood up. He pulled me against him, his arms a familiar, solid weight. "No," he said. He pointed toward the edge of the porch. A single, black-eyed crow was sitting on the railing. It had three eyes. "It's just the beginning," the crow said. The baby kicked again. I looked at Kaelor. His eyes were gold. Mine were silver. In the distance, the first scream of a newborn child echoed across the field of eternal jasmine.
