Emerson's POV "Anyway." I leaned back in the chair, steering us away from the subject of Brooklyn entirely. "Did you see that match last night? The one Marquez was talking about?" "The City game?" Jordan's face lit up immediately, exactly as I'd hoped. "Bro, that second half was insane. I still don't understand how they let that equalizer through." "Defense fell apart completely." "Completely." He grabbed his controller again, gesturing at the screen. "Speaking of which — you in for a rematch? I've been waiting all week to wipe the floor with you again."

“Which means I will enjoy it more.” He turned away from the screens, flicking his gaze to Nico then back again, as if something itched between his shoulders. “Who else wears heels into a service hall at two in the morning?” “Someone who doesn’t think rules apply,” Nico said. “Someone who confuses courage with costume. Someone who has a deep and strong reason to attempt this in the first place. An enemy.” Nero knew he had made a lot of enemies. It never shook him when he learned of a new one. He would simply kill them and be rid of them.

Nero nodded before he picked a grape and shoved it into his mouth. “Then I suppose you chose the second option,” he said, and Lena nodded. What sort of conversation could she share with him? “What business are you into?” Lena asked one of the most common questions asked during first dates, but there was a smirk on Nero’s lips. “I am into the act of giving and seizing,” he answered, and Lena wasn't that stupid not to understand his words; he was a mafia, so what other activities could he do?

Nero uttered to her, because he understood Anisia had comprehended that way which Nevan was wanting all of them to hide from her. “And if my pain is his cure then I am more than willing to take this pain,” saying that Anisia dashed towards the direction of Nevan, where Nero halted himself from stopping her anymore because now he got it that …… It was between those two bodies where their souls had already turned one.

Um. Nero is perfect for me. He's tall, handsome, and dangerous. He lets me be myself and he gave me expensive shiny guns as presents. Just yesterday, Nero gave me a new set of knives in a beautiful antique wooden case. Okay maybe...maybe he might persuade me to be one of them. I mean what do I have to lose, right? "Tessa?" The short boy replied back, and I could only hiss. “I can only answer that if you are Nero, the sword smith.” Sigil shot back, and the look on the boy’s face suddenly changed. A sense of familiarity struck him and he said in a low voice - “Then you’ve come to the right place.” I raised a brow. Sigil did to. “I am Nero.” He said again, and relief followed by a shocking sense of wonder coursed through me. Nero was very short. He was a dwarf—a really buff one.

I questioned him before he got the chance to talk about something else regarding their pack’s history. Nero shrugged, which was followed by a sigh. “I told you before, I was simply following Shin’s orders. I can’t get the two of you out of here without Shin’s command and approval,” he replied. In the attempt to hide somewhere within the mansion, Nero stopped me as if he saw through my plan. “Don’t annoy Shin more than he already is; don’t be stubborn,” he said. “What a sight to see—Nero is actually lending a hand to his enemy since birth?” Shin’s voice creeped into my mind as he walked side-by-side with Lizzy, who was still evidently fragile.
