“I still can't hear it properly. But you know what? I'll make you call me that name tonight, I'll make you scream out that name all night.” Instantly, my jaw dropped. Now I see every reason to regret calling him that name. I have just gotten myself in trouble.

That if I drove far enough, fast enough, I could leave it all behind. But I wasn’t that lucky. And the world didn’t care. My fingers hovered over my phone screen before I finally pressed the call button. Kendra’s name blinked back at me. The only name that still offered a tiny spark of familiarity in a world that had flipped on its head. Kendra Monroe.

What if I was bothering him? “Ivy,” Maria said softly. “Call him.” I looked at her. “He said you could, didn’t he?” I nodded slowly. “Then call.” My fingers tightened around the card. What the fuck am I supposed to do here where I don't know anyone? I let out a sigh and plop down on the bed, feeling bitter. I can't even do anything fun because I forgot the chargers for my computer and my tablet. All that's left for me to do is watch videos on my phone... until I get a call from an unknown number. Usually, I would skip the call, but something tells me I have to answer it. So I do. "Yes?" "Laurent? This is Kingsley," he says and my mouth drops open in shock. I sit up in bed and my heart goes crazy, my wolf immediately wakes up with happiness.

"Briana, Dad came to see you. Be good over there, okay?" A gust of wind blew loose one of the daisy petals, carrying it gently onto the gravestone. Dad froze. Slowly, his eyes reddened. He looked up, his voice trembling slightly. "Is that you, Briana?" I looked down at my increasingly transparent body and smiled softly in midair. "Thank you, Dad." Then I turned and walked toward the light. Behind me, the little bouquet of daisies swayed gently in the wind.
