His eyes darted to Art's neck, and he pushed his hair back, exposing Nikolai's mark. “You marked each other!” Charlie exclaimed excitedly, holding his hands over his mouth as he tried not to cry. Victor approached from behind and wrapped his arm around Charlie, pulling him back to the chair with him. “Yes, we marked each other,” Nikolai said, looking up at Art as he took his hand, then looked at his parents.

They are only seeing Nicole as a big bad bully. Charlie and his friends were the first to have succeeded in laying their hands on Nicole Parker and so no one had any idea how things were going to turn out once Nicole became the victim.
