"That's outside a doctor's pay grade. I handle the healing; I don't do intel." The look in Danny's eyes changed—the social politeness stripped away, replaced by genuine respect. "Chloe, I know I'm just a guy who runs errands, but if you're cool with it, I'd like to call you a friend." He straightened up, his tone crisp, like he was finalizing a contract. "If you ever find yourself in DC—whether you're in trouble or just need backup—Danny is just a phone call away." I was going back to DC.

Me: I want you here inside in the next two minutes. Danny: Coming, bro. I ended the call chugging on my drink when someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned to spot Danny, and he sat on the barstool next to me and ordered his drink. He took the first sip. “So, where is your Indian bitch? I am dying to meet her!” He asked, his eyes roaming around, and finally stopped at someone. Before I could say something, he rose from the barstool and sprinted towards Mishka.

His wink is quick, magnetic, before he kneels, flexing his muscles. I watch, transfixed, as the ten men dissolve into shadows, waifs that dance into the wind. They spiral around him, then sink into his back, disintegrating into the black markings of the tribal tattoo etched across his skin. The last shadow smooths into his vertebrae, and Phantom rises, body taut, power humming beneath his flesh. “Those guards are a part of you? Is that why your parents named you Phantom?”

Jenson bowed respectfully to Phantom. "Hello, Phantom. It's good to see you. This is the son-in-law I mentioned before, Dwight." Dwight looked calmly at Phantom, his expression unreadable as he greeted, "Hello, Phantom." Phantom's gaze was cold, his eyes sizing up Dwight from head to toe. "So you're Jenson's son-in-law?" Dwight nodded. "Yes, I am." Phantom continued to study Dwight for a moment, then suddenly said, "I swear I've seen you somewhere before. Have we met?"

Jonathan stood at the cemetery, his hands buried deep in his pockets. Geoffrey had just placed fresh flowers on the grave. Jonathan stared at the engraved name: “Danny Golden.” He watched a small ant crawl up the cold concrete. A memory flickered in his mind like an old film reel. He traveled back to a time when Danny was still alive. He had been a lively, cheerful man, and Jonathan’s father had loved him for his positive spirit. His father often said Danny was the reason he never gave up on his dreams; it was Danny's words that had helped bring the Walter building to life.

“No problem, be on the lookout if anyone tries to disrespect you again. Not in my fucking diner,” “How did you do that?” I ask, looking at him curiously. I know Danny is not that old, yet he’s not that young either. How could he scare off half a dozen young men with toned muscles and silver guns strapped to them? “Bastards like them pretending to be hunters ain’t no threat to me,” Danny shrugs, and I just look at him. “Now get back to work,” He says, patting my shoulder, stepping past me and clearing his throat but I follow him with my gaze.

My heart was racing. “Nicolas…” “Yeah?” He looked at me, and I waited a beat, giving him a chance to win the bet. But it was clear—he hadn’t felt what I had. “The Phantom Guy is here,” I said, serious now. His smile faded as he looked around, confused. I stared at the water, and he followed my gaze. “Are you sure?” he asked. I sat down by the water, and he joined me. “Phantom Guy, this is my friend Nicolas. You’ve already seen Annie—she’s the one over there, taking pictures with her boyfriend, Liam. They’re all in a band.”

I cut in, my voice steadier than I felt, “what do you want?” He hesitated. That hesitation told me everything. “I heard things,” he said finally. My stomach dropped. “What things?” He looked uncomfortable now. “About Frank.” Of course. “What about him?” I asked. Danny’s gaze sharpened. “Is he playing you?” I stared at him, disbelief rushing in hot and fast. “Excuse me?” “He’s got a reputation,” Danny said, frustration creeping into his voice. “You know that. He doesn’t do anything serious. He doesn’t stick around.”

Tobias went to confirm that Charlie had really died, then he howled to signal that the fight was over. “ Well…that was…anti climatic” Danny mumbled while brush the dirt of his shirt, but I could see him shaking. I gave him a big hug. Danny wiggled, “Oh my goddess! Get off! You said you would come back, but I almost watched you die, idiot!” He shoved me away scowling, suddenly acting like he wasn’t begging me to escape with him a while back. I saw Phoenix tense up from the corner of my eye, I gave him a look. I will not let him attack my brother.

Do you understand him?” I shift to get more comfortable and to be able to see Danny with both eyes. He is a prankster and does not discriminate. The wild look in his eyes tells me he is up to something and I probably won’t enjoy being a part of it.
