He chuckled in that dark tone that sent fear creeping into me. I frowned at his words. “Restore what?” The door opened and the pack witch, Sabrina walked in. My heart pounded fast as I glanced up at her with hope. She used to be close to my father. I'm sure she can help me escape from here. “The pack witch will restore our bond. It's faint because you had rejected me a thousand years ago... but don't worry, I've already forgiven you and want us to work things out. That told me everything and nothing at once. “You punched something.” “Several somethings.” I glanced up at him. “Trees don’t talk back, Nicklaus.” “That’s why they’re safer.” I looked back down, focused on a particularly bad gash near his thumb. “You’re going to scar.” “I already have.” That made my chest ache a little, but I didn’t say anything to that, just kept cleaning. He was quiet as I worked, his breath slow... until I pressed a little too hard near the edge of a split knuckle.

In the evening, just before bed, I heard scratching sounds at the door. I thought it was a lost kitten or puppy from somewhere, but when I opened the door, I found Nicholas standing outside with his neck slightly arched. His Adam's apple was bobbing up and down, and his eyes were red and swollen. The smell of alcohol mixed with the humid air immediately enveloped me. I took a step back and opened the door, and his body fell to the ground with a thud when he lost his support. He seemed not to feel any pain. He just stared at me blankly without saying a word.

“Do you have a cat at home?” “What?” Sebastian and Nico burst out laughing. “Specifically, a cat with claws,” Sebastian added. “A cat with—oh.” The realization dawned on me instantly. I did have a cat at home, only that she was five feet seven inches with long blonde hair. Nicole was a passionate scratcher and the only way that could be avoided was whenever I fucked her from behind. And even then, she still scratched the sheets. “Just clean the wound and get it over with.”

Niko shouted as Asher was holding his arm. He broke free and ran to me. I dropped to my knees, catching him as he collapsed into my arms. Turns out, Nick is terrified of snakes and he volunteered to work on a stall which will offer entertainment with animals and their speciality is snakes. Guess what? He came face to face with a small snake which drew that terrible scream out of him. Apparently, he was so freaked out that he toppled over a hard object, hurting himself in the process. Sebastian doesn't understand how a stall like this got approved in the first place.

But I loved him and will always do—I guess. "Should I give you my mark too?" I wonder. "It'll surely suit you." Nicholas grunted, removed his shirt, and revealed his back to me. "Don't the scrapes suffice?" I bite my bottom lip and trace the marks on his back. The lines are like a cat's paw scratching him. There were far too many. But I don't remember doing anything like that. "Sorry..." was all I could say out of guilt. But he never complained. So I think he was okay with it.
