I miss him too.” Her eyes burned as the hot air blew the fragrant tea olive her mother planted against her face, and they pulled away to the house beyond their fence. “Something’s not right in my head, Haldir. I hear it knocking and trying to make me open it up, but I can’t find it. I don’t understand what’s happening to me.”

Even Draven’s smile vanished. The old woman walked toward us, slow and careful. Tears filled her eyes. I stepped back. “W-What’s wrong?” She didn’t answer. When she was only a few feet away, she dropped to her knees. I froze. “W-What are you doing?” Her forehead nearly touched the stone. The courtyard went dead silent. I looked at Kai. His jaw was clenched. At Draven. For the first time, he wasn’t smiling. The old woman lifted her head. Her lips trembled as she whispered, “The Bride of the Ninth Life has returned.”

But this was not what Caitlin wanted: she needed to heal Scarlet, not kill her. As she finished yet another book and slid it aside, with still no mention of healing anywhere, she began to feel a sense of despair. She lifted the final book on the stack, a small, leather-bound volume with a red spine, entitled De Fascino Libri Tres by Leonardo Vairo. Caitlin summoned her knowledge of Latin, and knew that translated to: Three Books of Charms, Spells and Sorceries.

Meditating on it for a moment made me forget about the pain I was carrying inside of me, and for the first time a thought crossed my mind that maybe it would not be so bad to live here, if only because of this house. ~~~~~~~~~ Mom took the main, largest bedroom closer to the stairs, while I chose the farthest one, at the end of the corridor. I wanted to be as far away from my mother as possible because I was still angry with her about the moving. My bedroom was not only at the end of the corridor, but also separated from the other two rooms by a library and a study. The room was small but also extremely cozy, with a separate bathroom and there was a large mirror on the wall next to the door.

Chapter Thirty Chaos The sound of stacking wood echoed around the courtyard. Nora wincing each time the wood was dropped, her eyes locked on Jace who was still slumped over on the ground. Never him, whatever he is planning, I can deal with it later, for now, what matters is he got the book. He approached the book, it is now laying in the ground after Jonathan was sucked inside it. He crouched down and picked it up carefully, savoring the moment. At last, the book is his, the 3rd Seal has been broken. This is it, his victory, all of his preparation, his planning, it all leads to this, him acquiring the book.
