I crouched behind a stack of gear bags, sweat still clinging to my neck from the game we just fucking smashed. My chest was heaving, high off the win, but I was here searching for Noah because he vanished after the final buzzer. Seeing the man towering over him come into view with Noah just standing there, arms crossed, head-dipped low, and looking like a kicked puppy instead of the smug, golden-boy captain I was used to hating, my throat worked with difficulty and it became increasingly hard to just stand by but I knew I needed to see and hear this.
