Noisy Neighbor Game Novels & Stories

“I’d have to know people to do that.” “You will,” I told him. “But I’m glad you don’t in this case. I think I will. If she’s willing. I’ll let you know if I’m not coming home.” He laughed. “Okay.” “You’ll be okay?” I asked, worried he might try to run off again. “Yes. I’m fine. I’m going to order pizza and play that new game that just came out. And with you gone, I can actually hear it.” “Don’t turn it up too loud,” I cautioned. “I don’t want the neighbors thinking there is a war next door.”

Natalie…" I walked past him and continued on my way. This time, he didn't follow. When I reached the intersection, Ivy sent me a message. "Ms. Lawson, we're playing a mystery box game at tomorrow's team-building event. Are you coming? I heard everyone's guaranteed to win a prize!" Looking at those words, I smiled and replied, "I'll be there." The next day, I drew a small card at the company team-building event. It didn't say, "Thank you for participating." Instead, it read, "Today's Lucky Winner."

‘Aleksis Agustus, Chief Executive of Octagon Solutions’ How shameless of her husband to say he was fired from a company he owns? A flicker of excitement rushed into her eyes. All these years, Sierra has tried to dismiss the world she grew up in. The rush and hunger for danger were pulsing through her heartbeat. The same way it would always do whenever she was given a task. There was no need to ask who would play this game better. She knew damn well who would be a better player. All she had to do now was plan her way to make Alek feel like winning, and just when he got a hold of the trophy, she’d sneak in and snatch victory away from him. Maybe kill him. Well, that would be optional.

I feel pity for the big guy. Right now, Roman and I are in a stand-off against his cousins Menandro and Lara in a game called Sapo. It meant Choke the Frog, but without an actual frog. A figurine frog sat on top of an erected log in the middle of the garden. Each team has ten gold coins and all we have to do is aim for the frog’s mouth, choke the figurine. It was easier said than done. Each team hasn’t been able to choke the freaking open-mouthed frog yet. We only have four coins left for each team. Menandro missed another shoot. Lara’s aim was no good as well.

I’m never having a meeting at my apartment again. The house behind the gate goes eerily quiet, the woman’s screaming suddenly drowned out by the howling wind. Minutes trickle by and I grit my teeth as I count down the seconds before raising my fist to the gate, rattling it even harder. No response. I pull my cellphone out of my pocket, dialing 911. Right before I hit the call button, the towering black gate slides to the left and I am greeted with hard blue eyes that crinkle on each side with a forced smile. “Hey mate. What can I do for you?”

It was close enough that every person in the hall accepted it without question. I did not accept it. I said nothing. "Game Three begins in four minutes," the voice crawled continually. "No rest period. The game is called Dead Weight. Each player will be assigned a partner by the system. If your partner dies during the game, you lose two lives. If you cut the chain yourself, you will be executed immediately… No exceptions." The screens on every wall lit up simultaneously. A list of names in paired columns scrolled until it stopped. I found my name on the left side.

Just as I reached for my keys at the doorstep, a familiar meow suddenly echoed. I saw that Ragdoll cat crawling toward me, barely clinging to life. The cat that had previously ignored me was now actively rubbing against me, desperate for survival. I froze for a moment. Then, I mercilessly kicked it away. I did not want things that came too late. It did not matter if it was people or cats.

Shane’s voice was steady, though his hands clenched tightly. “She looked out the window when the voice said not to. They don’t like it when you disobey.” “The what?” Shane didn’t answer her question right away. His eyes lingered on the girl with the rose blooming from her mouth, then slowly turned back to Farrah. “The ones who run this… whatever it is… they call it a game,” he said quietly. “But it’s not a game anyone wants to play.” Farrah’s hands clenched into a fist… “She’s dead, isn’t she?”

Some people are moving boxes inside the apartment, but quite a few boxes are still littered in the hallway. Someone has moved into this apartment. I walk towards my apartment, carefully avoiding the stuff in the hallway. I hope my new neighbors are not like the previous ones. Loud and problematic. Because God knows how much peace I need after my shifts at the hospital. "Oh, for fudge sake, why are these boxes in the middle of the apartment?!" An angry feminine voice comes from the apartment. Amused smile forms on my lips hearing the censored cursing. Shaking my head, still smiling, I take out my keys and unlock the door. Even before I can step inside, a loud crash halts my steps, followed by

Rene’s POV: I frowned tightly. This game was made by me. It was double player game. I asked the waiter, “Are these handles of other room? Can we use them?” “It will work, Sir. This game handles are all commonly used, as long as there is electricity. It can be connected to the net.” The waiter replied with a smile. “I remember it is a double-player game,” I said with a frown. Waiter continued with a smile, “When it was just installed, it was indeed double player game. But later we found someone to update it. So now we can play with more people together.”
