I was actually a bit disappointed by chapter 50 of 'Non Zero Sum' after all the build-up. It's the confrontation between Aris and Kael at the abandoned observatory, right? The whole scene hinges on Aris revealing she knew about Kael's deal with the Syndicate from the start, which was supposed to be this huge twist, but I'd already pieced it together three chapters earlier from the way Kael kept avoiding certain topics. The action sequence where they fight among the broken telescope equipment is decently written, I guess, the metal groaning underfoot added some atmosphere.
What saved it for me was the very last bit, after Kael is disarmed. Aris doesn't arrest him; she hands him a data-slate with evidence implicating the Syndicate higher-ups and says, 'Your move.' That shift from capture to an uneasy, forced alliance is way more interesting than another predictable takedown. It reframes their entire rivalry and makes me much more curious about chapter 51 than the reveal itself did.
