THE ART OF FALLING

THE ART OF FALLING

Chapter 53: Stepping Back Into the Light The first place Nora went after weeks of hiding was the corner café two streets away from Trisha’s apartment. It wasn’t special. Just a quiet spot with scratched wooden tables, warm lighting, and the smell of coffee that lingered in the air like a promise. But to Nora, it felt monumental. Every step toward the door felt like an act of courage, like a tiny rebellion against the fear that had defined her life for so long.

LUNA OF ASHES [THE MOON GODDESS RISES AGAIN]

I felt him press a quick kiss to my shoulder, then shift to sit up. “Come in,” he called, voice still rough with sleep. Nora entered quietly, closing the door behind her. She looked like she hadn’t slept at all—pale, eyes shadowed, clutching a small leather-bound book against her chest like it might shatter if she held it too loosely. Her mother’s grimoire. She stopped at the foot of the bed, gaze flicking between us. “I… didn’t want to wake you,” she said, “but this couldn’t wait.”

It had shaken her. Before I could push further, Nora turned around, her face bright. "Can we go to the bookstore when Mommy is better?" Sarah immediately latched onto the change of subject. "Maybe," she said, ruffling Nora’s hair. Nora’s excitement drowned out the tension, but I wasn’t fooled. Something was wrong. And I was going to find out what. * I pulled my phone out of my pocket as it vibrated against my thigh. Neville’s name flashed across the screen.

“It’s not.” There was a beat. Then another. When she didn’t continue, I scowled. “What are you not telling me?” Nora bit the inside of her cheek, like she was measuring how much she could get away with sharing with me. Then she dug around in her satchel before pulling out an old, leather-bound book. The binding was worn and cracking, and the cover was faded with the crest of House Aurelian. She opened it carefully and turned the pages with a brittle whisper before pausing.

he waved dismissively at her, wishing the barista would hurry up and get his coffees to him and sincerely regretting ordering his PA one since it was delaying his return to the office. “Narnurs,” the woman shoved the book in his face, “the latest release from Perris Brooks. You’re Narnurs, right? You are on the cover of the book?” Realization hit him almost as soon as the dread did when he took the book from her hand and looked at the cover. His fingers clenched tight around the hard binding.

"Can I get a look at the new arrivals?" "Of course," the lady nodded. "Right this way if you may ma'am." Najmah trailed behind her, gazing at various isles of books. They stopped by a counter which was marked 'New arrivals' boldly. She picked a few that caught her eyes then paid using her card. Promising to drrop by again when she had free time, she waved a goodbye at the lady then stepped out of the bookstore. Najmah picked a few books that caught her eyes then paid using her card. Nina was already at the bookstore when Liora arrived for her afternoon shift, sitting cross-legged on the counter eating a granola bar and wearing the expression of a woman who had been waiting to have a conversation for approximately fourteen hours. "Don't," Liora said. "I haven't said anything." "You have a face." "I always have a face." Nina hopped off the counter. "New development. The gossip page updated." Liora's hands stilled on her jacket zipper. "They still don't have a name," Nina said quickly. "But they have a description now. Someone talked. *Young woman, early twenties, works evenings, picked up nightly from an independent bookstore on the east side.*" She paused. "There are exa

This is such an interesting book, and the characters are really good. Jane is that one friend anybody should have, and then Elara who was called barren was finally going to be having her baby. It's a pity her husband had to cheat on her with her step sister. Overall the story is really good.

Honestly I love that she had a friend like Jane, I love her personality. I love how I could feel every emotion you tried to put into words and everything played like a movie in my thoughts. This is such a good read. Kudos dear author...️

IN THE GAME OF LOVE

asked Nancy, in a very fake sad voice. At half-past seven, Mrs Smith and Emma went for the grand opening of their neighbour's bookstore. Emma wore a causal t-shirt on her jeans along with her thick jacket and shoes. It was huge compared to the other bookstores in Roseville. This bookstore was a rectangular building with huge glass windows on either side of the wooden door. Their neighbour, Mr Walter, a tall but very lean man, welcomed them inside and guided them. The ground floor was devoted to the children's section and fiction. A small wooden table and a chair were also kept close to the door. Mr Walter told them that it was reserved for a special guest. The first floor was devoted to non

Of course I was known already. “Yes,” I said. “Nora.” “Judith Evers.” She offered me a reader’s card form before I’d even asked. “Welcome to Moonbrook.” “Thanks.” Judith’s eyes flicked to the dark circles under mine, then politely away. “Looking for anything specific?” I hesitated. This was the part where a rational woman would ask for local history. Nature guides. Maybe legal resources about poaching. Instead, because rationality had been quietly losing ground for days, I heard myself say, “Folklore.”
