Rain asked, biting his lips. “So much,” River responded. My eyes turned to the white-haired guy, Rex, who stood there like a king watching over his empire. He wasn't saying much, but his eyes were. River, who was at the bottom of the bed, moved. He reached out and took my ankles. His hands touched my skin, and I swear, a moan escaped my mouth. He moved my legs apart very gently. Then, he leaned down and started to kiss the inside of my knees.

“My oath binds me to Artemis’ and his orders. I can not leave back grounds without his express command.” “I really hate that you took that dumbass oath, Maverick. Real fucking stupid move.” River grumbles and I have to admit, I’m feeling the same damn way at the moment. I suck in a deep breath, readying myself for the potential of my oath acting up if I don’t get what I need. River looks just as nervous as she shakes her arms out, readying for a fight. Then I shove the door wide open. I don’t knock, there is no time, every second we wait is one second further they get away from us.

CHAPTER 83 A MONTH ago, the wind seemed to have changed. Everything felt like a safe place for Anastashia and Owen. For a month they did nothing but enjoy themselves inside the hacienda. Her hacienda is big and Anastashia is really lucky because her hacienda covers a lot of scenery. "Mom, we're going back to the river tomorrow, huh?" Owen promised. They had just come from the river. A beautiful river that they had just discovered. From the look on Owen's face, she knew she was very pleased.

“Bye Daddy. See you soon. Hope you have fun in the faw away land!” “He’s not leaving yet. Not until he’s stronger.” I explained, but River was already running out of the room. I smiled awkwardly at Oliver, “call me if you want them to visit, and I’ll see what I can do.” To Rose Oliver felt like a stranger. And River is such a social butterfly that she just likes anyone and everyone. I’ve often joked that River would be the perfect girl to be kidnapped because she talks to every person she meets. I have warned her about strangers and not accepting anything or going with them, but I’m not sure it’s getting through to her.

The river narrowed behind us and the land weaved into older woods—trees that smelled of ash and old rain. Hollow Oak did not announce itself with a trumpet. It came like a bruise in the earth: the trees went thinner, the air tasted flat, and the ground underfoot was scarred with black lines. At first I thought it was just rot and old fires. Then I saw the stone.

The snow dusted the branches like powdered sugar, and the pale-blue snow blossoms peeked up from the frost, as if determined to keep blooming despite the cold. A narrow river cut through the forest, its water so impossibly clear that I could see every smooth stone at the bottom. In winter, rivers were supposed to freeze, but this one flowed like a living ribbon of silver. Just like me, Stacy’s eyes were also widened in awe. She gasped dramatically. “Liora, look at the fishes in the river. Their color is so vibrant. And that tree, it has fruits on it. Gosh! How can your mom ever live in a normal pack after being born in a place like this?”

Riley laughed, hugging Lucas and Tiffany back, and then looked at River. “I think you’d better start reading that book,” she teased. “We’ve got some important decisions to make.” River nodded, still overwhelmed. - "Finally!" River recites excitedly as he leans back on the couch, dropping the last of the merger files atop his new glass-top centre-table.
