Novel & Cerita Novel Shop

With the money from the divorce and house sale, I took over a little shop on an old street down south of the city. The owners of the failing café were looking to get out. I changed the layout of the shop and turned it into a bookshop. The name of the shop was Foglight Books. My best friend came by to clean the place up. While wiping the shelves, she asked, “Are you sure you don’t want to move away from the city?” I shook my head. “They are the ones who should leave, not me.” On the opening day, I simply hung a sign out the front. There were no loud celebrations.

Chapter 2: She Tasted Like Trouble And Felt Too Familiar II They fell into an easy rhythm after that. The store was narrow, shelves leaning a little too far with secondhand fiction, occult guides, poetry chapbooks, and oddly specific memoirs no one asked for — but somehow, they sold. Aria loved it: the smell of aging paper mixed with dust, the hush that seemed to settle like a blanket, and the way time warped in corners where lives were stacked so densely on shelves you could almost hear their echoes.

One Year Later Viola Mccoy The library buzzes softly with the quiet shuffle of feet and hushed conversations. It’s the kind of afternoon where sunlight filters through tall windows, casting long, golden rectangles on the hardwood floor. The smell of old books mingles with fresh coffee from the café nearby. A line snakes around the room, filled with people clutching dog-eared copies of my second novel. Some hold tattered first editions of my debut, others carry shiny new paperbacks, their covers bright with the face I’m still getting used to seeing on bookshelves.

Merchants from every part of the kingdom come here to sell their things, which is why quite a variety of things are found here. We were going towards the designer shop when suddenly my eyes fell on a new shop which I have never seen before. I stop walking and look towards it. There is no one outside that shop. It looks like no one wants to buy anything from that shop. Why is it so? “Whose shop is this?” I ask the soldier who was standing a little distance from me. He comes forwards with his eyes cast downwards.

He knocked three times before turning the handle and walking in. Inside was even more beautiful then the bookstore downstairs. It had a glass domed ceiling so you could see the sky through it and and the room was fully lined with more floor to ceiling bookshelves, there were tables in the center with glass cases displaying all sorts of items for sale. It was like it was out of some fantasy novel, Merlins workshop or something from the Harry Potter books. “Hello!” A voice rang out from the back of the shop somewhere. “I’ll be right with you, take a look around but please, DON’T TOUCH!”

The shopkeeper approached and brushed the dust from the books with his hand. "Ancient bookshop of yours would not have been daring to enter without me, the volumes were coated in a thick layer of dust, and the contents of the books were just old crap, not suited for this period at all. Let me see, they're just as old as you." I grinned and selected a book off the shelf. "Humans' favorite thing is nostalgia; before this shop was created on a deserted site, there were hundreds of locations to reconstruct old Rome, and even places to rebuild temples. Worship is practiced again. Oh, doesn't talking about paperwork give you a headache? What did the lawyer say?"

I sign at the bottom, and have somewhere to stay. He shows me around the shop next, and teaches me how to operate the cash register. There isn't a stock room. If it isn't on the shelves then it isn't in stock. Most of what's there is prepackaged groceries, candy, chips, soda, beer, liquor, tobacco, magazines and newspapers, along with a few cheap plastic toys. The top shelf of magazines has a lot of front-cover pictures of naked women, with a few naked men for variety. I feel myself blush, and look away.

ceased to exist, for just long enough that I could read it, and then it redoubled its efforts, thrashing from side to side so aggressively that I feared it would go through the front window. The shop was called Eye of Newt, which I enjoyed greatly. Skye and Kathrena had settled themselves down on the bench already – and had left a gap in the middle for me, which I noticed with a swelling joy in my chest and throat at the sheer sweetness of it, and of them – but I was drawn over to the window displays. It had one on either side of the front door, which looked about the right height for me to fit through, but would definitely make Skye stoop, and probably Kathrena, too.

he said. I looked out the window. “There’s a bookshop,” I said. “Two streets from the market. So small you have to turn sideways in the aisles. I bought two books I didn’t need.” “What kind.” “One about a woman who builds boats. One about a city that doesn’t exist.” He made a sound that was almost a laugh. “Of course.” “Of course what.” “You’d find the one bookshop,” he said. “In the whole city. First month.”

I stopped by another shop and bought a nice wicker fan. @DEATH WISH Thank you for supporting my Novel!
