I said to James, brushing past him and over to Nova, lightly swatting her hand away from the brownies.
"Nova, you're going to get sick if you have too many
sweets."
"It's worth it," she said, trying to reach around me.
"You won't be saying that when you're puking your guts out," I said, stepping between her and the desserts. "Have some fruit or something. At least try to balance out your artificial sugar intake with natural sugars."
Nova rolled her eyes. "Fine," she groaned.
The rest of the party was relatively the same: James Greenwood talking to me about his university studies and about other aspects of his life I didn't care about, and preventing Nova from stuffing herself with desserts.
