My heart skipped a beat when he put his hands on the wall and leaned close to me, ripping my strength to replace it with his intoxication. "Miss Beth." He whispered huskily, completing his sentence, moving his face so close to mine. I shuddered as I could feel his malicious plans under my fingernails, stirring my mind. "What game?" I asked in a whisper, not liking this at all but his offer was too good to resist. He let out a low yet dark chuckle and moved to my neck and spoke up in a whisper, "For the next ten minutes, I will seduce you and if the word 'Please' escaped your lips. You lose."

Neha was standing. There was no fear on her face. No hesitation. Just an unsettling calm. She said quietly, “Maybe what’s happening aren’t just stories. Maybe all of this was decided long ago. And now… I’m here to tell my story.” She walked slowly toward the stage. Suddenly, the candle flared back to life — as if an unseen hand had awakened it. Neha spoke again. “My story is about the room where I lived alone for the first time… Hostel Room No. 11.”

The walls were lined with rich tapestries and ornate furniture, and the air was filled with the scent of burning candles and incense. Draco was seated on a throne-like chair in the center of the room, his piercing blue eyes fixed on me. I felt a twinge of fear but tried to keep my composure. "What do you want from me?" I asked, my voice steady. Draco's gaze flicked over my body, making me feel exposed. "I want you to understand your place, Natalie," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "You are not here to be a warrior or to fight like a wild being. You are here to be my bride, to make your skin sweet and supple for me."

Aside from you, of course, Conrad, since you’re still too young.” Conrad snorted at his sister to show her his annoyance and returned his attention to his tablet, playing the new, not-yet-released zombie game Hayden and Darcy had given him as a trial from their video game company, HD Game, Inc., which they had built themselves from scratch a year ago.

Annalise retorted while enjoying the food that Zeno prepared for her. “What kind of plot, then?” Zeno inquired. “Hmm, maybe about games or robots? I’m not sure but I’m trying to think which one is better. Although, I’m thrilled about writing a novel that’s all about science fiction,” she replied. “Robots will be good. I’m sure that they will adapt to your novel if you finish that. Maybe they will also try to release a game about that,” Zeno explained, which made Annalise chuckle softly.

His eyes are dark but familiar. Not because I know him, but because my soul does. My breath catches. Nyxara smiles with slow satisfaction. “Oh,” she murmurs. “Yes. You feel him, don’t you?” “What is that?” I whisper. Nyxara steps closer until she’s almost touching me. “That,” she says softly, “is what happens when you break a Game that has been running for centuries.” Her fingertips brush my cheek, leaving an ice-cold trail down my skin. “A winner,” she whispers. “From before you and your little mate.”

No wonder they make so much money. I slip my bra off, breathing in relief as soon as it hits the ground. I turn on the TV and feed the cats, then sink down on the couch with my phone in hand. Dad texted me during dinner, asking how I was feeling. I reply to him and search through N*****x for something to watch. I’m dozing off when my phone rings. It’s still on silent from dinner, and it takes me a minute to locate it under the blanket I’m snuggled up in. It doesn’t help that Neville’s fat butt is laying on top of it.

I drift off to sleep on the plane on the way back to Texas, only to awaken after having a very vivid dream or maybe I should say fantasy of Drake. I pour myself a drink and try to relax. I decided to change clothes and freshen up, just in case Drake met me at the airfield. Silly how I have to remind myself this is all just a game. I catch myself wanting him, wanting to please him, wanting to give myself to him. I have to remember that I want to hurt him, make him regret how he treated me. Lila, my wolf also reacts to Drake so strongly I constantly have to reign in. I continue to sip the burning alcohol that I am drinking, my excitement continues to grow at the thought of seeing Drake.
