True Love? True Murderer?

True Love? True Murderer?

I stated, "I bet you have quite some dirt on Clifford Holmes because he's always been a slick attorney. Hand over the evidence. Also, if any client wants to sue Marie Harding, please hand me that case." I could gather evidence of Clifford's unethical practices, but that would take a long time because he was a cautious man. My new employer, Cole Bates, had wanted to make a move against Clifford's law firm for a while now, and his first target was Clifford. Cole gladly did me a favor and handed me evidence against Clifford, saving me a significant amount of time and effort. I owed him one. It was a win-win situation.

Death Of A Rivera

Death Of A Rivera

Most things are about detectives and all their boring stuff but something tells me to go through it because I might know a thing or two. I've opened almost all the books on the first shelf. Turns out detective books are not so bad. I also passed out my time by checking some of the murder novels on the shelve. One really caught my interest. Dying to call you by Elaine Viet. It's about a girl finding her sister's murderer and all that.

Cordelia thought about it and said, "I also think Uncle Bond's a little mysterious, not quite like a writer who's always cooped up at home to write. I heard from Trinity that his works have only gotten viral all of a sudden these two years, but he's very skilled in writing with clear logic, and his stories are mind-boggling with unexpected plots. And…" "And I feel like those storylines have really happened," Zephyr said lightly. The novels he had by the bed had always been Jim's work. Jim was apt in writing using the first-person point-of-view. A few of his mystery novels were written from the perspective of a detective.

I've only read two books on this app. This is the second and by far the best one. The storylines are fluid, the characters are endowed with personality and most importantly the writer makes them come together seamlessly. Ideally, this is what the experience should be, uncomplicated and enjoyable.

I like the story. However, the cost is high for books on here and they are never ending. Not that the chapters are long, but it is almost the same outlying as the other books from this author. Sometimes it takes a moment to see what characters they have actively engaged in that chapter.

The Detective's Partner

The Detective's Partner

Detective Sullivan attempted his way over towards me, but barely passed Elizabeth when Captain Johnston’s voice was heard throughout the room. “Anderson! My office!” I take one last look at Elizabeth before sulking my way into his office. “Captain.” I say shaking his hand. “Detective Anderson. I didn’t expect to see you back in my office, let alone my squad room. How have you been?” His calm demeanor taking me by surprise. I half expected the same reaction I had gotten from Elizabeth. The way I left everything; I was amazed he wasn’t yelling down my throat.

Sharon McQueen looked happy, and when she blew me a kiss, worded ‘Thank you’, and then slowly faded from sight, my heart skipped a beat. When I finally turned and looked at the road before us, the world indeed seemed to be a brighter place. Author’s note. In my first novel, I wanted to tip my hat to a very influential story, Raymond Chandler’s the Big Sleep, and though many elements of this hardboiled detective story made it into my tale, the one thing I could never seem to make work was the romance story. So, when I was asked if I had such a story that could be entered into this collection, I realised here was my chance to fix that omission. There are also elements from other classic noir/r
