My Boyfriend's Cousin

My Boyfriend's Cousin

I looked around the large library on the fifteenth floor of the office. Two years I worked here, I never visited the library because of course work is more important. Besides being used as a display, this library is usually used for programmers who want to work in peace. If Big Man's secretary hadn't taken Rhysand and me to the library, I might have been the only employee who had never visited this room. I love reading. Reading novels. The first novel I read was by Louisa May Alcott; Little Woman, and then moved on to other feminist novels such as Handmaid's Tale and Pride and Prejudice—the book I'm holding right now.

Sinful Nights

Sinful Nights

No one has found the bodies yet, though, so theres still a lingering hope out there that they're alive. I sigh as I crawl under the thick quilt, flicking on the lamo beside me as I pull out my latest find at Barnes and Nobels: The Winter Garden by the famous Kristin Hannah. This woman's books are truly amazing. Then, after an hour long reading session, I find my eyes beginning to shut against my will, so I set down the book on the bedside table and shut off the lamp. ~ The next morning...

The Empire of Thetia

The Empire of Thetia

The Law of War" will finally have a sequel, but not until late 2020 or early 2021” "What's your current favorite book?" - “Right now, I'm really into Camillia-Rose Hunter's books. I just finished the "Don't Watch" trilogy, and started "Please, kill me". Her writing style, the way she carries us through her stories, everything about her fascinates me. Besides, I understand why she was awarded the Golden Cross of Literature and the Order of Culture. The talent she has at such a young age it is becoming more and more rare. I'll tell you frankly, I would love to produce many of these books in film, especially the ones I just mentioned”.

" So, let's go. If it's important to you. What are the books? " There are two novels. Sweet Ana and The Prostitute's Secret. " Wow, I thought you were going to say The Great Gatsby or One Hundred Years of Solitude… But that's okay. " Prejudice with contemporary literature, then you? - He jokes, and his sincere smile framed by his perfect features leaves me floored for a few seconds. " That's right. I'll read them then. " Without reading reviews on the internet before. " Promise. " They're at my summer house, here at Metropolity. I can get them or… you can sleep with me tonight.

WHEN SHE MET HIM.

WHEN SHE MET HIM.

Audrey didn’t quite understand him, “what do you mean?” Nathan’s lips curved into a mocking smile as he sat up, “I was thinking there was a book for the likes of you but it seems you don’t have it” She heaved a sigh, he was Making mockery of her again. “I have Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, 1991. Alpha Nolan, The Blind

Alpha Nolan, The Blind

My hands skimmed the books stacked in the book shelves, and time ticked by painfully slow as I took Alpha Nolan's younger brother's advice and stayed inside the room. It had been over two hours since I slept and woke up on the white and gold bed, so I decided to take a look at all the books that were in the book shelves. The writing on the spines were mostly fading away, gathering dust as they had no use for the people who lived here. I admired some of the old classics and new books as my eyes wandered over every title. I had gathered a stack of books in my hand, picking the ones I wanted to read and taking them out. So far I had five books which were classics that I knew would peak my inter

The Alpha's Companion

But she hoped that even Scar wouldn't sink so low as to ruin their wedding day. After everything ws organized and put away, Lacey headed out to the living room and poured herself a glass of wine. Then she eyed the wall of books on the far wall. John Grisham... Tom Clancy.... Then there were classics such as The Three Musketeers, The Man in the Iron Mask, both by Alexandre Dumas; as well as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and From the Earth to the Moon, both by Jules Verne; and much more. It was an impressive collection. She chose From the Earth to the Moon and then sat on the couch to wait for Julien.

Frequently Asked Questions

Man, I saw this thread and had to chime in because 2015 feels like a weirdly underrated year now. The one I keep pushing on people is 'A Little Life' by Hanya Yanagihara. It blew my reading group apart—half of us thought it was this profound examination of trauma and friendship, the other half called it trauma porn. I'm in the first camp. It completely rewired my brain about how far a character study can go, even if it's brutal.

Beyond that, I remember 'The Story of My Teeth' by Valeria Luiselli being this playful, experimental thing that was nothing like 'A Little Life'. It was smart and funny, about a auctioneer with fake teeth, and it played with form in a way that felt fresh without being pretentious. 'The Sellout' by Paul Beatty won the Booker the next year, but it came out in 2015. That satire is so sharp it could cut glass; it's hilarious and vicious about race in America.

If you want something quieter and more atmospheric, 'The Mare' by Mary Gaitskill is stunning. It's about a troubled girl and the woman who fosters her, connected by a horse. Gaitskill's prose is just unbelievably precise, finding emotion in the smallest gestures. And don't sleep on 'The Tsar of Love and Techno' by Anthony Marra. It's linked stories set in Chechnya and Russia, and the way he weaves the narratives together with such humanity amidst the bleakness is a real masterstroke. 2015 had range.
