I tried to recall the events leading up to my hospitalization, but my head throbbed with pain, making it difficult to focus.
As I lay there, staring at the ceiling, another nurse came in with a tray of food. She placed it on the bedside table and gave me a warm smile
"Here you go, honey. Breakfast is served. Eat up and rest. Doctor's orders."
The nurse who tended to me was a gentle, maternal figure with a kind smile and warm eyes. She had a round face and soft features, and her brown hair was pulled back into a neat bun. Her uniform was clean and crisp, and her movements were smooth and efficient.
