It had been almost ten hours since she was made aware of the book’s existence, and finally, finally, she could see its contents. Taking it from her nightstand, Carrie traced the spine of the paperback. She read the title in front, then the synopsis in the back, and finally, the first chapter. Olivia was the name of the female lead. A lawyer, the only female partner of their firm. She was the personification of control. Described as eagle-eyed, her attention to detail, matched with her mastery of her craft and her undeniably strong wits, she was a powerhouse at the firm.

“It’s none of—” “Oh, it’s none of my business now? Of all the men in this city, why him? Why this arrogant, insensitive, irresponsible jerk?” “Olive.” I glared back.
