But one caught my eye: a pink book, which looked completely out of place. It was tucked between two thick volumes, its cover wrinkled and faded at the edges. My curiosity got the better of me, and I found myself reaching for the book. On the cover, was a cartoon illustration of a bear and a tiger. A children's book? Why did someone like Xeros have a book like this inside his study? I flipped it open, turning the pages absentmindedly as some words began to register in my mind with a vague sense of familiarity. As I turned another page, my fingers brushed against something thick… a folded piece of drawing paper folded in half and tucked carefully between two pages.

I say in Greek, hoping Bronx won’t understand it. The cover of the book stretches and creeks, until a bulge forms below the embossed title. The bulge grows until it looks like a closed eyelid. I take off the dragon scale glove and run my hand close to the surface, careful not to touch it. When it senses me just an inch away, the eyelid snaps open, exposing a crisp apple green eyeball. It looks around, surprised to be awakened until it lands on me and watches, waiting for instructions. “What the fuck?” Bronx lets go of my hand and backs up until his back is against the door. “Kas, tell me that’s not what I think it is. It’s some sort of replica or some shit. Tell me that’s not real.”

“Who else?” She blushes then, looking down at the shadows in her lap, and his heart breaks clear in half. “All right,” she says slowly, after a minute, reaching out a finger to tap one kitten on the nose. “This one is Tempest, Storm of Dawn,” she murmurs, making Jesse’s face break into a wide grin. “And this one,” she says, moving her finger over to the next kitten, who sits up straight and looks eagerly up into her eyes, “is Mittens!”

I can see in her eyes and behavior that she was very interested as she get more closer to me. As I flipped the first page of the book and asked the name of the first animal picture, instead of answering me, she leaned closer on me looking at the booked in my hands, I can only see now her head as it covered the entire book page. She was amused because the book was in 3D pages, that she did not answered yet my question. "Jade what animal is that?" I asked her again as I was also amused with her excitement. "A cat, a big cat!" she said with a big smile looking at me, her white pearly teeth showing.

"How cute you are looking kitten. I want to devour you totally and make you taste the devil side of me. But, the way you are jumping with those tied legs of yours is making me want to laugh," Xavier thought to himself. "Wait for me, kitten. I am coming and I will make you scream under me," he thought and wrapped his works.

This book is dedicated to Bukade—my awesome friend who's helped me very very much in the creation of this book, and Favour Edem, too—my first love, for taking her time to explain stuffs about Werewolves, and Vamps, and Witches to me. He had a look at the title: ‘Lycans in Human and Animal Forms: Strengths, Weaknesses, Peculiarities and Blind Spots.’ Xandar chuckled before he asked as he lifted up the book in one hand, “Sweetheart, should I be worried about this?”
