Just Irene, sitting in the dirt, coaxing flowers to bloom. One of the omegas laughs softly. “The roses like you, Luna. Look — they’re opening.” I blink in surprise. The buds that were closed moments ago now show faint streaks of pink, trembling as if shy. My heart swells. “Maybe they can feel happiness.” “Or maybe,” the omega says, his tone almost reverent, “they know the Goddess’s touch when it returns to the world.”

Mia's voice is small but it doesn't stop us from hearing her. "And why don't you deserve to stay there darling?" My mom's gentle Luna voice always helps to ease anyone and I'm hoping it will help Mia and Josh. "We are not Beta mates anymore, we are Omegas, we've lost our mate and therefore should be put back down on the Omega floor," Josh speaks this time but none of us misses the tears in both his and mia's eyes when he mentions the loss of their mate. "I want you both to listen to me, I'm only going to say this once and I know that everyone in this room will agree with me." We all look to my dad and he continues to speak.

Six years ago, when Adom got the results back from the doctors, he couldn't process what Omega said. His mom was an omega, and he loved her dearly, but he also saw how omegas still got treated in this society and how it was hard for them to find a good job. They even had to watch out for alphas when they were in heat, or they could be attacked.

To them I was just a pawn and since I was diagnosed as an omega, all of my future plans would have 'being sold' in common. That was pretty much the fate of omega borns like me. When you are born an omega, you have only two choices. Omegas could give birth to dominant alphas, be it Male or female. That's why we're wanted by the elites to carry out their legacy of alphas from their clan.

“Anna—” “No more half-truths,” I cut in, my voice shaking. “No more avoiding the question. I deserve to know what’s happening to me.” He sighed, his expression unreadable. “You do.” I swallowed hard. “Then tell me. What is an omega?” Nolan hesitated, as if weighing his words carefully. “Omegas are rare,” he finally said. “They’re… different from others. More instinct-driven. More attuned.” I frowned. “Attuned to what?”

‎I sighed, my shoulders slumping slightly. ‎“I’ll explain,” he continued before I could speak, his tone turning more serious again. “The reason we’re careful with Omegas…” ‎I listened closely as he spoke. ‎“Beta Benjamin once had a mate. She was an Omega….rogue, just like you. He marked her, claimed her.” ‎My fingers tightened slightly around the glass. ‎“But she was greedy,” he went on, his expression darkening. “She wanted power. And one day… another Alpha claimed her as his mate too.”

I glanced to Ines, but she was just nodding and smiling with encouragement—not for Emma, I realized, but for the crowd. “Ravencrest knows that the most important thing for omegas is the family, and by extension the Pack. Pack is also paramount for betas and alphas, but omegas appreciate and can exploit the power of the domestic life in ways unknown to other wolves. That is their special gift from the Goddess.” Though I thought the words were a little conservative, if not old-fashioned, much thigh-slapping followed. Emma continued, “In Ravencrest, we promote that domestic power through what we have come to call ‘congregations,’ but in reality they should be called ‘mixers.’”

And I would be nothing more than a vessel, a breeding tool for whoever was strong enough to claim me, and for whatever they could extract from my body. In the werewolfdom, male omegas were the most useless of all sub-genders. At least the female omegas could conceive, but my kind was literally just a filler, we're just…there. Weak, useless, no importance, and most especially, useless. Did I mention useless?

For a moment, she was confused about whether to tell him the truth or lie about it. "Um, yes," she said, her voice faltering. "I come from an omega family, so I don't have a lot of resources. My friend’s family is sponsoring my education, but I wanted to earn a little for myself, sir.” The chairman looked at her sympathetically. "I understand," he said. "Well, in that case, we might have some opportunities for you to earn some extra money around here." Sabrina felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had managed to get out of a potentially awkward situation, and now she had the chance to get closer to the handsome chairman.

Pulling up my phone, I texted Silas. ‘I might do some meddling with the fates.’ Once I sent it, I set my phone down and turned it on silent. “So how do we start?” Charles asked and I smiled. Taking a deep breath, I looked past the two of them. “Charles, how familiar are you with Omegas?” Sam froze for a second and looked at Charles. Charles closed his eyes for a moment and crossed his arms. “I am aware there are four main genes of wolves, as well as hodgepodge of just garden variety wolves.” I laughed at his analogy but let him continue. “You have Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Omega. Everyone else that doesn’t fall into that ends up being just normal.”
