On Our Best Behavior Novels & Stories

#JUST_BEST_FRIENDS Author: Sam Freddy CHAPTER 31: PEACE OF MIND. — — — To Tayo, Idara's call was nothing but a miracle from heaven. Earlier on, he'd been living his normal routine at work; dedicating his undivided attention to his customers, minding his own business as usual, until he got Idara's call. Little did Tayo know that he'd end up chilling with Idara in a cinema tonight. They'd actually just finished seeing a movie titled The Fault in Our Stars, and they were both left spellbound after the experience.

“My name is Professor Calloway. This is Behavioral Psychology—Power, Motivation and Human Dynamics. If you’re in the wrong room, I suggest you leave now before we get started.” Nobody moved. Of course they didn’t. Who the hell would walk out on a voice like that? The girl to my right leaned into her friend and whispered, loud enough for half the row to hear, “He is absolutely fine.” Her friend hissed at her to shut up. The girl just giggled. “I’m just making an observation.”

The next segment should be inviting the best man and maid of honor on stage to liven up the atmosphere. Mila was very nervous as her hands sweated. She felt very unhappy. She had just let go of her past grievances and accepted Nathan again. If it happened again, she was afraid she couldn't bear it and wouldn't be able to hold on. Just as Albert was about to announce the next segment, he suddenly paused for a few seconds with his hand on his earpiece. Then, he shouted, "Next, we have the Best Man, Nathan Morrison, the most prestigious Defense General of Norvania.

His Adam’s apple bobbed up and down and he stared at me intently for a moment, then he shrugged. ***** “Thank you for the meal.” I said, sincerely when I finished eating. “I actually came here so we could talk about our behavior, especially your behavior at work.” He started putting away the lunch boxes and I helped with it too. It was the least I could do after enjoying a free lunch. “What’s wrong with my behavior?” “I don’t want people to notice that we have something going on. So I don’t want any special treatment from you when we’re at work.”

Greyson growled with a hand clamped over his mouth, blood trickling through the gaps between his fingers. "She dislocated my arm!" Theodore yelled. "Someone pop it back in for me! Ow, ow, ow! That hurts!" Cole's friends closed in on me. My cumbersome wedding dress was my greatest disadvantage, for it took them no effort to pin me to the ground. Greyson snarled menacingly, "Cole, this woman knows too much. We can't let her live." "Not today," Cole bit out. "It's my big day with Camilla. I won't have bloodshed."

Charity smiled and took her hand as they walked. “Is he a good kisser?” Charity asked, earning a scolding from Charley. “Char, don’t ask things like that! It’s too personal,” he told her. “I don’t mind, Charley,” Marilou answered. “Yes, child, he is the best kisser in the whole kingdom,” she told the child.

I retorted, trying to maintain my composure in front of the other packs. “Every person on my team is a professional dancer. We will be the best,” Cate said, blatantly ignoring my taunts. “You’re all talk Eleanor and I can’t wait to see you fail.” With that, we saw the lights dim on screen and the queen’s assistant announced the first performance. All of the packs watched respectfully, saying their polite ‘break-a-legs’ to each of the troupes as they left for the stage and appropriate congratulations when they returned. The tension in the room remained high. The assistants' vain attempt at getting us not to compete had clearly been unsuccessful — we all knew there was a fight to be the best.

“Fine. But if this goes south, you’re going to be the one who has to explain.” I didn’t respond, knowing that if things went wrong, I wouldn’t have an explanation. I turned away, heading toward the training yard where the rest of the pack was already assembling. The air was thick with anticipation, and I could feel the nerves buzzing among my warriors. I stepped onto the makeshift stage, raising my voice to address them. “Listen up! Today, we fight for our home, for each other, and for our future. Fenriz thinks he can intimidate us, that we are weak. But we are strong—together!”

I say and Quinn looks over at me, a soft expression on his face. "No problem." He responds and we drive the rest of the way in content silence, the radio the only sound as it plays quietly in the background and I'm struck by how nice it is. My friends are always chatting and Brad likes to blast his music. It's peaceful, sitting in quiet contemplation doing nothing but running my fingers through Hank's fur. When we arrive, we walk up to the little booth where you pay to get in. "It's a fundraiser for the local humane society. I got it, since I basically forced you to come." I say with a smile and Quinn shakes his head.

He didn't even notice me, as he only had eyes for Dahlia. Seeing this, I felt as though a silver spike had been driven straight through my heart. The pain was so intense that I bit my lip hard enough to draw blood. Panic flashed across Xander's face when he saw this. "Don't get the wrong idea, Ophelia. They're just putting on an act. It's a rehearsal for tomorrow's ceremony, so everything you see right now is just an act." Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to smile warmly. "It's alright—I understand. I'm just a weak Omega now anyway, so it's only right that Leander doesn't want to be close to me."
