Ejecting the Cuckoo From the Nest

Ejecting the Cuckoo From the Nest

I paid, brought my luggage over to the right building, and walked up to the door. The fingerprint lock did not click when I put my thumb to it. Flabbergasted, I tried again, but nothing happened. I keyed in the string of numbers I remembered—my birthday and my mother’s birthday combined—but it still did not work. The red light from the keypad flashed at me. The unease I had felt since reaching the place intensified. I called Jon, but he did not answer. I called Mom, and it rang for a long time before she picked up.

The Cuckoo's Egg

The Cuckoo's Egg

In the videos, Joey grumbled under his breath about how cold the coffin was, all while being wrapped in a warm blanket, fed food by his parents, and even given affection by Winnie, who had snuck in while no one was there. The scene was disgraceful, to say the least. "You set me up?" Joey asked incredulously. He'd endured lying there in the coffin for three days straight because he could see the light at the end of the road, that his dreams of living a carefree life abroad were going to be a reality. He thought his plan was flawless, but I'd recorded it all and broadcast it for everyone to see. "Why can't I scheme against you when you did it to me first?" I said, laughing at the top of my lun

Mated to Three Handsome Nightmares

Mated to Three Handsome Nightmares

For a moment, it felt like peace. I leaned back and floated for a while, eyes closed, arms outstretched as the sun filtered in through the leaves above. The silence was peaceful. until it wasn't. A sound cut the air. A croak. Then another. I opened my eyes slowly. Above me, through the leafy cover of the trees, a few black shapes flew overhead. And then they returned. Birds. But not birds. Ravens. Three. Then five. Then dozens. They didn't fly aimlessly. They flew directly over me, their shrieking croaks booming in the trees as if saying words of tongues that only they understood.

Grim Reaper's Bride

Baffled, I stared at my impossible surroundings, searching for some kind of explanation. A crow cawed. The bird shot through the air like an arrow, over the trees and towards me. It landed at my feet, pecking my shoes expectantly. “This is ridiculous,” I muttered, reaching into my pocket and giving it the last of my Craisins.

Hunters: The Prequel

*Croak* *Croak* Huginn nuzzled cozily against Mane and Muninn gently prodded the young Supreme. “Hehe. Alright.” Mane giggled. He snapped his fingers and like a man full of tricks red flames swiftly engulfed him – and the birds who sat on his shoulder. *Croak!* *Croak!*

I hope that’s not the end end. So many left off pieces of the story all his friends on the other world, all the other gods story lines, he’s only used his blood born weapons and armour twice. Hasn’t even made it out of dreamscape yet. Still have everything in true verse going on while he “asleep”

To live or to love

To live or to love

Looking up, she spotted a black bird flying in the direction of her home. The cawing echoed through the woods, piercing through the silence like a knife. Its sound was both eerie and comforting, as if the bird was guiding Miranda on her journey home. The cawing was not continuous, but intermittent, almost as if the bird was speaking in a language Miranda couldn't understand. Its voice was rough and hoarse, yet had a strange melody to it.

Fated to the Beast

Cuckoo. A crow squawked and pecked at one of the window ledges. Antony, who recognized the crow, immediately opened the dining room window. A cold wind blew hard that brought snowflakes. Their eyes stung, and reflex covered their faces. Quickly, Antony closed again. He gets annoyed that his hair is wet. He shook off the dew clinging to his hair.

Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Beast

--- ### The Eye in the Sky We eventually went back to the fire and fell into a fitful sleep. But as the moon reached its peak, the silence of the "Real World" was broken by a sound that shouldn't have been there. It wasn't a howl. It wasn't the wind. It was a **Click**. I woke up instantly. I didn't move. I kept my breathing steady, my eyes barely open. A few yards away from the camp, a small, silver bird was perched on a branch. But it didn't have feathers. It had a sleek, metallic body and a single, glowing red lens for an eye.

the trembling finger he pointed to an ornamental cherry tree, the blossoms long unborn. “It's a beautiful tree. "Red breast," she said. A memory from a long time ago popped into my mind. “A robin? A red-breasted robin? — It was a lullaby that she used to sing. I looked back at the tree, just as one robin with a worm in its mouth flew to the leafy branches. — Oh, Granny, there's a nest there. Well protected by the foliage, you could see the nest with a robin on the edge,

THE REJECTED OMEGA IS THE LYCAN KING’S MATE

"Welcome to hell with moss." The group began trekking toward the Winding River, boots crunching over brittle pine needles. The air was thick with fog, and eerie caws echoed from somewhere overhead. Falcon gasped. "Did you hear that? That bird just cursed at me in Ravenese." "That's a crow," DJ said flatly. "No, DJ, that was a death omen. That crow said, 'turn back, bitch,' and I, for one, think we should respect its wishes."

I am absolutely in love with this book. It is one of the best that I have read in a long time. I just wish I knew how many chapters in total it is going to be total. I tend to start reading others while waiting and I like to let them build before I read them. It just helps knowing how many in total.
That B¡tch
This is hands down one of the best books I’ve read on here. The last chapter I read was 57 & that’s 2 wks ago. Came on here last night because I’m home after getting minor surgery & bought the remaining chapters & I sat down & read it all. All I can say is wow! My imagination is waking up. Thank you
