"Onyx? What's an Onyx?" "It's something I worked years and eons digging up from the crust of the earth. A very valuable object that no living being on the surface of the earth has ever come across. It is as beautiful as paradise but I assure you, Maya, with this treasure, all our dreams will come true. And trust me, we may even survive this coming disaster."

I murmured. “No,” Evelina confirmed. Slowly, her eyes left the parchment. “They were harvesting it.” The hairs on the back of my neck prickled slightly. Center of the circle…. Wait a minute. I’d seen that symbol before. Not in parchment. On campus. “The Obelisk under Obscura,” I breathed quietly as every single goddamn dot connected itself in the most hideously perfect way imaginable. “It’s what’s anchoring the thing.” Evelina gave the smallest smile.

Towering skyscrapers of black obsidian and steel pierced the sky, connected by glowing sky bridges. Maglev trains zipped between the spires like silver veins. It was a marvel of Lycan engineering, a place where ancient magic met cutting-edge technology. "It’s... massive," Ashren whispered. "It houses two million Lycans," I said. "The wealthiest, most powerful packs in the world live here. It is a long way from the log cabins of Silver Creek."

5 seconds later, the ground from the dead end and 20 feet backward slowly began to go down. It's an elevator. Soon, we're enveloped by darkness. After 5 minutes of waiting, a bright light shone through the cracks between the ground and the walls. And we're here. Welcome to The Keeper of The Keys, our organization's main base. The biggest base we have. About half a mile below the surface. And yet, with technologies, we can breathe fine.
