Onyx waved his hand and slipped it inside his pocket. "You f*ucking w*hore!" Owen yelled, and Onyx's head shot back at him. Onyx's eyes darkened as he trembled with wrath. "Say that again! I dare you!" His chest shuddered with wrath as he growled. Not a single word came out of Owen's mouth as he started trembling in fear starting into Onyx's haunting eyes. Ophelia was shocked beyond words at Onyx's reaction and all she could do was let Onyx drag her to the elevator. Ophelia didn't realize she was staring at Onyx until he looked down at her and she cleared her throat. She took a step away from his arm, and his grip on her waist loosened.

“If you can put a halter on him before four, he’s yours. No charge. If not, the vet proceeds.” Taren reached for my arm, his grip tight. “Think about this.” I pulled away and asked for the waiver. When the tablet was handed to me, I signed without hesitation. The gate slid open. The moment I stepped inside, I felt him. Onyx stood at the far end of the pen, dark fur rough and uneven, his body tense like a coiled wire. His eyes locked onto mine. He charged. I barely had time to react, throwing myself sideways as his claws slammed into the sand where I had been standing.

“What? How else am I supposed to get rid of the old crone?” “I heard that, hussy.” Tala turned and called out, “Damn, Lreta, did someone leave your cage open again?” Shaking his head and wondering why the universe would insert these crazy people into his life, Onyx turned his attention back to Seth. “I’ll have Jesse call you if my contacts uncover anything.” The Alpha advanced down the path, nodding. “Good. Likewise, if I find out anything, I’ll let you know.” When the Bane wolves had driven away, Tasha turned to Onyx. “Now you can explain what he meant by ‘game preserve.’”

I stood there for a while, contemplating what was going to happen with Selah before leaving for my room. I knew he was still going to cover up for her. How he did it so easily was what shocked me but I knew that one day, it would all be out in the open. ONYX'S POV: I knew I had to go to see Selah tonight. She was going berserk and killing people. I had to warn her to stop. I had to tell her to. As soon as I was in the confines of my room, I put on a jacket and changed my slacks as I had worn the old one throughout the whole day. I immediately exited my room after instructing one of my guards to inform the driver to get ready.

“Never claimed to be anything but. Now, climb into that cubby hole and be quiet. I have a thing to do today that needs my full concentration.” My own voice sounds crazed, hinting at the mentally disturbed being using it. But I remain quiet, keeping my thoughts nonexistent as I watch Onyx get me ready. A quick shower, a shave and some products in my hair. Slicking it back with a twirl of his fingers. He smirks in the mirror, and I’m sure it’s to me. Then he dresses in black trousers, a black shirt and some combat boots. I know what this means. We are going to take more children.

Ryker coughed, clutching his throat, his pride bleeding through the cracks of humiliation. “This isn’t over,” he spat, eyes flicking to me. “You’ll see who he really is, River. And when you do……” Orion took one step toward him, and Ryker bolted, stumbling down the hall before disappearing into the stairwell. Silence. Orion stood there for a moment, his breathing steady but his jaw tight. I stepped closer, hesitating at first. “Orion…” He turned to me slowly, and I saw it, the storm still burning in his eyes. His wolf was close to the surface, protective and violent all at once.

It was a feeling that I would never get tired of. "Alright, let's get moving," Storm signed, breaking the silence. "We've got footage to review and a storm to analyze." We piled back into the Hummer, eager to start reviewing the footage and analyzing the storm's data. As we drove, Rain started going through the footage, looking for the best shots. Blaze was busy checking the storm's data, looking for any patterns or anomalies. Ryker and I were quiet, watching the landscape unfold outside the window.

His words, his face—everything about him made me sick. I went pale and forced a smile. "I can forgive you. All it'll cost is your life." Emily's face darkened. "Nathan, that's enough!" But before she even finished speaking, Jake grabbed a vase off the table and smashed it against his own head. Blood ran down his forehead. Emily and my mother both screamed. A heavy slap landed across my face. For a moment, my ears rang so loud I couldn't hear anything. All I could see was Emily's face—pure disgust and irritation.

“This ocean can’t wash that away.” “No wolf can track through the ocean.” “You really want to fuck around and find out?” “Goddess, Kai....” Onyx stands in front of me, and I’d swear I see steam coming out of his ears, but then he backs up, shaking his head. “You have guts, and I respect that. Besides, I have enough headaches to deal with.” He grabs a pen and draws a few lines on my antique map. “You’ll continue on a direct path to Crystal Waters.” He looks up. “And next time, you go this way. Stay the hell out of Wyveron territory.”

Anya’s voice snapped again through the rune, each word a countdown to disaster. Rayden looked to Orion, eyes sharp. “We move him,” he said, his voice low and steady. Orion nodded once. No argument. No hesitation. The trap had closed. But the true storm was only beginning.
