On the way, I took in more of the fair. Here and there among the humans, I could spot ‘Others’ veiled in subtle glamours or hidden behind carnival masks. One orc had painted a crude third eye on his forehead. Just strange enough to misdirect the humans. Just ordinary enough to pass. The tents were a riot of colors, each one sheltering some “wonder” from the magical world: A monkey’s paw, supposedly lucky. A dragon’s tooth, obviously 3D printed… looked more like a dinosaur molar.

Lucifer smiled as he clapped his hands together. Orbs started to appear all around Lucifer. The orbs would pulse with energy rhythmically as they grew in number. Soon Lucifer was lost among the growing cloud of orange. He slowly pulled his hands apart, causing the orbs to gather together in multiple balls. Each ball got covered in an orange shell that looked like a cartoon bomb in shape with what seemed like a fuse made of orbs sticking out of the top. Lucifer took a breath, then every "fuse" caught fire. Lucifer took another deep breath and threw his hands downwards, launching every "bomb" as he did.

The blue light was getting brighter it was pulsing like a heartbeat.

She then started to chant again. “It’s Blue.” I said. “Shush and watch.” She said. The smoke stayed blue for another minute before turning purple. After a few more minutes it turned red and then orange. The smoke started to flicker between purple and orange before it turned back to the milky white it had started at. She never mentioned orange. “What does orange mean?” I asked. “A black magic witch did this. Orange means that the witch used their blood in the spell. This is not good. I need to call my coven right away.” Najera said. She ran inside and came out with a phone in her hand.

Flame pondered “I was wondering why you were copying Dad all of the sudden.” Orlando only glared at Flame, who grinned back. Orlando came up to take the lead of the group, before Flame joined his side. With his exposed back to me, I could see that his intricate tribal wings were marked with a huge scar running around his right shoulder blade that was lined with several needle marks on either side. All of it was mesmerising to look at. “We decided to rest in town to avoid the bombs” Orlando explained, and glanced back at me “barriers have been set up to protect the people living there. They aren’t bomb-proof; but they will stop most of the impact.”
