It had the perfect golden color and on its top were strips of flaky crusts covering the juicy red filling of marmalade.
My hand was about to steal a piece, it was aiming for the fattest pie, when a clanking sound of pan halted me.
“Martha!” I checked if my heart was still fine.
“Suits you right for almost stealing my pie.”
“I am not stealing it. What is that, anyway?”
“The filling?” She asked, and I answered with nods.
“Strawberry. Preserved and dried.”
“Really? But its aroma is crisp, like it was freshly picked.” Fatma included herself on the conversation. She leaned closer towards the top of the oak table, and started moving her hand to the direction of her nose.
