With her magic and the orb, I’ll spread darkness across the world—starting with your precious den.” Ellie stepped forward, her silver fire blazing brighter than ever. “Witch is hurting. Let her go!” She launched a beam of light that struck the orb, cracking it, and the ice witch screamed, her eyes flickering blue. “NO!” the figure roared, grabbing the orb. “You’ll pay for that, little one.” He lunged, his shadow magic wrapping around the figure’s legs, while Lira shot an arrow into the orb, shattering it. Void magic erupted, sending them flying, and when Elara looked up, the ice witch was free, her blue flames burning away the void corruption.

Zoe rolled up the edge of her shirt, revealing the faint, almost invisible scratch on her side. But as Marella’s fingers hovered over the wound, Zoe felt a sudden, searing heat. She bit back a gasp, her hand clenching the fabric of her pants. “Ah,” Marella said, her tone grim. “This magic is indeed dark, twisted. That fit me like a glove! Looking at the vast spread on counter. All its potions, vials, makeup, soaps and creams. I find a couple things I recall seeing in old magazines we had at the little sunny orphanage. Shuttering at the thought of that place.
