she said. I looked down at the veritable mountain of books. The titles ranged from “Disorders of the Mind: Wolf Psychosis and Beyond” to “Hidden Illnesses and Ways to Find Them”. I had already read several of them, but rereading them wouldn’t hurt. “Thanks.” I shoved the last bite of my second sandwich into my mouth, washed it down with the rest of my coffee, then hopped down from the filing cabinet and gathered everything up. “I’ll get started right away.”

The minute my eyes landed on the words, my hands as if holding a mind of their own moved to the first page that read Tim's Poetry Book. Grabbing the chair, I took a seat flipping through the pages, fascinated, curious to learn more about him. The thing about going through an author's work that I've come to find was that you're almost given a glimpse into what goes on in their minds. You learn about what kind of childhood they had without them saying it; learn about their perspective on certain subjects of love or sex- even power.

My mind is the only thing that makes me stand out. It isn’t what someone sees when they meet a person, though, is it? I have never seen a man look at a woman walking by and say, ‘Look at the mind on that one. I don’t even know why I’m thinking about this now. Maybe it was that dream and the man taking one look at me, and turning his back as he walked away.

It felt like someone had stolen pieces of my mind and created a scrapbook. I didn’t know what to believe anymore.

Over forty-two. How many people come in here? Returning to the base, I count the desks. One after the other. A grin spreads on my face. My heart beats gently as my mind goes numb to my pain. I focus on counting the tables and chairs. I smile harder as I get to the last desk. Satisfied. Spinning around to start again, I halt as an old brown cover catches my attention. Familiar. Sitting on a short shelf behind the last desk. I tug it out—my jaw drops to the floor as I go stunned. Something is wrong with my brain and eyes. The water has done damage to them. Because why is my medical book before me?

That lovely thought clings to me as I lie there, staring at the ceiling, wondering if I’ve completely lost it. Everything in my mind is screaming at me to stop. To shut this down, to not meet these people, to walk away. It’s insane, and any rational person would probably run. But I can’t. There’s this part of me, the part I admit is fucking stupid and not sane, that keeps whispering, Think of the book. Think of how popular it’ll be when people find out the truth behind it. I know it’s crazy. And yet, here I am.

The books whose MMC are my, to heart, book boyfriends. And now, now all I could fucking imagine them is as Dante, every MMC of these books keep on reminding me of him when I am trying to read it so I could forget him. I wish I could just shout out my lungs now. The way my frustrations are overflowing, please god make sure no one else tests my patience today. Or may God have some mercy on them. I step outside seeing my poor driver waiting for me since morning and now it's almost evening. Sitting in a car we drove back to the house with my failing attempts of clearing my fucking mind out.

“Lee I didn’t read your mind. I think I know you well enough to know that there is something going on in your head before you say it.” I slit my eyes at him, “Really?” “Really.” “Okay.” I gazed at him for a few moments, debating whether or not I should open that book. It was like a whole new chapter, or a sequel to a movie. Surely he was getting tired of it. I know I would be frustrated and tired of being jealous. “Would you like me to pick it out of your head?” I shook my head, placing my cheek against his chest. “No.” “Then spit it out.”

(AMELIA) My mind is heavy and filled with a severe amount of thoughts bubbling in my head concerning Mr Mitchell. I can't even begin to tell or explain the amount of trouble coursing through my system right now. I am restless and extremely inappropriate in my position thinking thoroughly about how I managed to get myself into this mess.

"There's no way I'm leaving your books behind, Uncle Rick." "Oh, God. This is a nightmare," I said and scanned my shelves again. "Let's not forget about the crows. Maybe some of the books I haven't read yet and my standalone. I'll also bring some spice." I hit my forehead with a hardcover book I grabbed. "I'm going insane." ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
