Wrath pulsed hot and wild through me. “Overlord….” His voice was shaky and hearing that title was enough to let me know who it was already, his breathing was hard, almost restrained as he tried to speak. “I— it’s…. Overlord, I was watching over her and I had no idea that….” His voice trailed off, drowning in the pit of his hollowed breath and my fingertips shook as my anger heightened. “Miss Octavia has passed out.” He finally let out. A loud thunder sounded in my head as time stopped and the tablet I was holding fell right out of my hand.

We would leave this ground bloody and with his head in my hands. Nova growled beneath my skin, ready for the bloodbath and to shift when it was time. I looked beside me at the empty space where Lucianne should have been. Hopefully, Lance and Jules would be enough since I and Lucianne could not use the Lunar Nexus. Jules and Lance would face the Overlord and his mate. But first, we had to survive the first wave. The Overlord raised his hand, a signal to his army, and I saw them readying their weapons, preparing to charge. My breath caught in my throat, but I forced myself to stay calm, to focus. This wasn’t just a battle. This was everything.

It collided with Gideon's handprint, both exploding into nothingness. Alberto, narrowly escaping death, was overjoyed. He turned his gaze forward and saw the ocean split apart. A white-haired elder slowly walked out. Seeing him, Alberto clung to hope like a drowning man clutching a lifeline. "Overlord! Overlord, you're here! The heavens haven't abandoned me after all! Overlord, save me!" Alberto screamed hysterically. The white-haired elder, known as Overlord, snorted coldly and barked, "You disgraceful fool! Apologize!"

“David, how daring of you! How dare you call the Overlords by their first names. You must be tired of living. Don’t drag me down if you want to die. I never said that an Overlord was supporting me. Using the Overlords’ names is a capital crime. Everyone knows that the five Overlords have not been involved in world affairs for many years. They will only appear when Leila is in crisis or there is serious internal strife. If you want to harm me, you should at least come up with a believable idea!” Ambrose yelled at David.

His body goes rigid. "And now, this creature will pay the price for killing one of our own!" The Overlord announces loudly. A whimper escapes me. Fear for Cristoff coils tightly inside me. "No... Zeus..." I turn toward him, tears streaming down my face. "Do something... Call someone...Do something. Stop them!" He rushes toward his desk and grabs a phone. His eyes never leave the television. I turn back toward the screen. My heart is pounding so hard it hurts. And before I can say another word, the Overlord raises his hand.

He stammered, his thighs close together and his body turned rigid. “Why so?” Elijah turned her head for the second time, her long hair fell at the side, with her large eyes blinking at him innocently. “Becau- because Overlord conquered the territories at a speed of lightning. Over- Overlord accomplished an achievement that not even demons could achieve.” He played with his fingers, trying to control his nervousness because Shadow knew how nervous he was. Shadow glimpsed at James, who reduced into like a scared new student entering the bully’s den. “What happens before the ruling of the demons?”

Before anyone could speak, he replied, “The Overlord met his demise while he was residing in the manor.” “And we are just hearing about this now?” Beta Howli took his hawk gaze through the room and when he saw the evasive looks on Lord Elias’s and Beta Zoey’s faces, he nodded and said, "I can see you decided to keep some of us in the dark.” “It had to be done. We could not trust anyone at that moment,” Alpha Darren replied. “But you could trust the foreigner enough to tell her that the Overlord died?” Beta Fam joined the conversation and the eagerness he displayed put off the Alpha King who could not help but think that Beta Fam of the Batani Pack was acting suspicious.

Ruth said proudly. Boom! That piece of news dropped like a bomb in front of them! "What? The intermediate Overlord State? How could that be?!" Lentus and the others were so shocked their jaws almost dropped on the floor. However, they thought about it and quickly realized something. The Overlord State was the realm of those that were truly strong. It was the second great hurdle for a martial artist. It was incredibly difficult to get past it. Whether it was Springfield City or Seacove City, many of the older generations in the large families struggled to reach that level even after devoting their whole lives to it!

Ethan frowned. “And this Overlord just… woke up tonight?” Lucian finally spoke. “Yes.” His tone was far more serious than usual. “And that’s very bad news.” Raven crossed her arms. “Explain.” Lucian exhaled slowly. “The Overlord is older than the Alpha Kings.” Ethan blinked. “Older?” Lucian nodded. “He is the ruler of the creatures from the other realm.” Hayes added quietly, “The first king of monsters.” Ethan stared at them.
