The first review I read was from a literary publication that described the book as unflinching and specific and written with the particular authority of someone who had lived inside the thing she was describing rather than observing it from outside. The second review used the phrase inside view. Not from the methodology. From the book. From the chapter about the Marlowe's dinner and eating the meal alone and going home with every piece of yourself intact. The third review was not a professional review. I barely get many reviews on the front page of the book so a review this poor would set me back so far. You can criticise the book without rating it poorly and if it’s that bad, don’t read it. I woke up sad and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I consider stopping the book altogether (mean critiques get to me more than they should.) I am not saying this for my book alone. It applies to others as well. I kill myself to write and brush up on my chapters. I also don’t get paid to write on GN. I do it because I am committed, and love my readers here so much.
