“You did. But not everything.” There was a long pause. Then, quietly: “Did I love you?” It hit like a blade to the gut. I swallowed. “You chose me. Even when you knew what you’d lose.” Callum nodded faintly. “Then I must have. In a way that mattered.” We didn’t touch. Not yet. But it was a beginning. By noon, Paladin had vanished. His message was simple: Too many eyes. Burn the place. Go dark. He left a cache of gear behind—new IDs, encrypted comlinks, burner cards, and an old leather-bound journal filled with codes, names, and coordinates. A lifeline stitched from shadows.

"So, tell me, what can they do? What kind of powers and strength do they have?" "Oh, that part?" Erezhul's eyes lit up as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, I made them just a bit stronger than your usual sparring partners, like you asked. But the male one, Legion, he’s a little more advanced. I built him more like a warrior than just someone to train with. He has rare fighting skills, something dangerous and different. You can use him for sparring, sure, but he’s also perfect if you want someone to protect you or stand by your side in battle."

None of us has taken a paladin since we’ve been together, but there hasn’t been a need for it. What is a paladin? It’s simple; a paladin is a loyal animal companion. The best way to explain what I mean by loyalty is: they are protective of you, kind of like the K9 partner of a police unit, combined with caring for you when you are most vulnerable, like a medical support animal would.

My mum had a skeptical look on her face at the mention of my request. "The moonstone land is said to be a sacred part of the Blue Moon pack, we can't have it, moreover, it's way too close to the Blue Moon pack" she pointed out calmly. "Listen to me, we have to own that land, someone is living on that land and they have the crest of the extinct royal witch! There must be other secrets on that land!" I exclaimed in a whisper.

If he was admitting to me that he found some letters, then maybe he didn’t want to keep the letters a secret from me. “What letters?” I asked, even though I had a bad feeling about it. It felt as if something was lodged in my throat and I had no strength to swallow it. “My father exchanged letters with the former Alpha King and Luna Queen,” he announced, causing my eyebrows to shoot up. The werewolves were all guided and led by two of the most superior people over us after the moon goddess, the alpha king and the luna queen. I heard there was a huge war that caused the deaths of the last ones, and nobody wanted to elect a new alpha king and luna queen after that.

Gwenn has done hers. The first thing I did was to go through the records and select the list of potential new council members, Gwenn did the final selection and then I went around creating new legions, I did four more because I knew we would need more warriors to help with the new dangers that were arising. These warriors were sent to deal with the occasional sighting of a creature thought to either be extinct or mythical. When it was too much to handle, my wife was called. Adela was no longer around, going back to wherever she came from and I was a little bit glad about that but it just meant that Gwenn was to go alone for her missions because her companions were gone.

Danté struck the cage with the side of his fist then looked at Alister, the older man sat quietly watching the events unfold, he looked at Danté's concerned face. "Please help her?"
