Silver blood ran down her hand. She pressed it hard to her chest, trying to stop the bleeding, but it just kept coming. The people from the Chorus stayed on their knees—hundreds of them, packed into the dark parking garage. Her chest heaved and she brought her hand to her mouth as she sobbed. Maybe he hadn't even woken up at all. It was all like some fever dream. A sudden movement caught her eye. Her heart seized. A pointy object glinted, hovering dangerously close to her pupils. A needle. She stilled her body; one wrong move and she could blind herself.

The weight of the moment seemed to press down on me, and I could feel my chest tightening. My heart was racing, and I could feel the panic rising within me. I closed my eyes, trying to focus on my breathing, but it was no use. I was sinking further and further into the darkness, and I didn’t know how to get out. I was scared, and for the first time in my life, I felt truly hopeless. I knew I needed to get a hold of myself, but I didn’t know how. Just as I felt like I was about to break, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I opened my eyes and saw Tyler’s face, full of concern and sad too.
