Casie sighed before closing her eyes. "This is the tale of my elder sister, Amora Roosevelt, the heir of the Alpha's position of Black Heart pack. We were not known as black hearts for no reason. Our actions were just like our name, black. So we had never guessed that the to-be alpha of the pack, the ruthless and untamable, would fall for a person of a different species," She took a deep breath.

Swiftly flicking his cigarette, he forcefully turned the steering wheel in the opposite direction, causing the car to spin in circles around the girl. On the other side, Hiya, with her heart pounding, witnessed a black Mercedes approaching rapidly. Overwhelmed with fear, she clasped her hands over her ears and shut her eyes tightly, anticipating an imminent tragedy. In that moment, she believed it was her last day in this world, facing an inevitable and untimely demise.

A vampire with this ability can store their heart outside of their body. Essentially they can’t be killed. They have someone they trust to guard their heart and keep it safe. “You must journey through the Shift Tower and face the challenges that lie within. But be warned, the cost of entering the realm of the Mevara is steep. You must give up a part of yourself.” Russe and Reina exchanged a nervous glance. “What kind of part?” Russe asked. The Keeper smiled wickedly. . “It could be anything. Anything that makes you who you are.” Reina’s grip on her dagger tightened once again. “We won’t let you take anything from us,” she growled.

It was the same star map Jack had seen in the compass fragment, the one leading to the black hole. “You think we're hunting you?” Theron mocked. “We're ‘guiding’ you. Every battle you fight, every burst of power, that delicious ‘scar’ on your chest… it's all ‘charging’ for your ultimate goal. You need to become strong enough to withstand the power of the ‘Progenitor Heart’ without being torn apart, and then… activate the beacon.”

“You think this is over? You’ve only broken the lock. The thing beneath the Black Moon stirs, child. And it remembers your name.” Kaelira’s blood ran cold. “No,” she whispered. “The Echo was the last of it. I destroyed it.” “You destroyed its shell,” Varyn said. “But its heart — the true Black Moon — was never in this world to begin with. It’s waiting. And it’s calling you home.” Zevran stepped forward. “Then we’ll burn your god a second time.” Varyn’s expression softened, almost pitying. “You can’t fight the storm, boy. You can only drown in it.”

She was angry at being summoned. “I need your help, Goddess.” “Why should I help you?” I gave this question some thought for a moment before I came to an answer. “Because if you do not, your people will be in danger…” This seemed to spike her interest. A perfectly formed brow arching at the statement. “Speak.” This was all she needed to say. She was a Goddess after all. Her presence alone was enough to command armies. “I am Melinda Black. Wife of the Wolf King, and the last surviving heir to the Walker coven dynasty. I am sure you are aware of what this means.”
