I replied, smiling.
“I take it I’m not part of anyone, am I?”
“You can be special. It depends on how you behave and how good you are. Besides, you don’t carry the family sin on your shoulders,” I told her.
“What am I not carrying?” she asked, puzzled.
“The family sin!” I repeated.
“What is that? I’ve never heard of such a thing before,” she said in wonder.
“The family past is like a sin that you have to pay for. I swore I’d get even, and I will. Although my mother was not such a loving and kind mother, she didn’t deserve the life she had because of Luiza,” I told her with a strong hatred.
