POV: Sebastian Patience was not something I’d been born with. That was the honest version of the story, the one I’d never told anyone because it didn’t fit the image I’d spent years building, the composed and steady man who moved through the world like someone who had already seen how everything ended and was simply waiting for the sequence to catch up with him. The truth was considerably less elegant. Patience was something I’d learned the hard way, through years of watching what happened to people who moved too fast, who let urgency override strategy, who couldn’t tolerate the distance between wanting something and having it.
