I tried easing the pressure that I felt in my chest even though I knew that being tense would not make the phone ring, but it didn't work out for me. After some minutes of almost doing completely nothing except for waiting for her to call my Dad's phone, I turned on the TV. I switched the channel when I could not stand the amount of hugs a male character in a movie was giving his son. It looked absurd. Way too much for a boy of his age to bear. After flipping through the channels, I stopped as I saw SpongeBob SquarePants on the screen. It was about starting when the phone rang. Quickly, I picked it up.

ELAINE “Hi, baby,” I greeted my son as Lia handed the phone to him. I’d been talking to Lia through FaceTime, and we were just through catching up. Now I was speaking to my son. He sat in the back seat of the car, dressed in his everyday clothes: a comfortable T-shirt featuring one of his beloved cartoon characters, SpongeBob SquarePants, paired with denim jeans speckled with patches that were no doubt from his adventures on the playground. After fighting my way out of duvet jungle , I finally settle down…and right on time too! My favorite part of the introduction plays , and being a Spongebob fan – I mimic the yellow sponge dude. I pretend that I have a long yellow noise as him , and play it like a flute with him. I always did that , I will never miss any opportunity to copy that action.
