Alessa asked, a little harshly, causing Madison to give her a look of defiance. “Here! I didn’t look at it, but it’s insurance. In case Kyle doesn’t buy our story, you can show him this.” Madison threw an old phone at her. On it, a video of Kyle and Alessa, in his bed naked, in the penthouse started playing. Alessa stared at it in disgust, and suddenly the smell of paint and plaster in the penthouse made sense to her. “It was you, wasn’t it? You had—you had someone install—And you didn’t watch huh? Then how did you know when it started exactly? Who else watched it?” Alessa yelled, stuttering most of her words coated in sadness as tears rolled down her eyes.

The massive explosion swallowed the entire car in an instant as thick smoke billowed straight into the sky. Screams of panic erupted from the crowd. I stood in the stands, watching as the blazing fire devoured everything. The flickering flames reflected in my eyes. I thought to myself, "You've won the bet, Evelyn. Now, you don't need to pretend to be blind anymore." … Third-Person POV When Evelyn woke up, she was in a hospital ward. She forced her eyes open, only to be met with a stark white ceiling.

"Please, just open your eyes." Jung-Ho lightly pats Sook-Ja's cheek. The young girl, whose lifeless body is next to him, and he is kneeling. He is to blame for her current state. While returning from work, she was involved in an accident. He cries out, "Open your eyes," as his own eyes begin to blur. His skull is bruised, and tears are running down his face. He moves his fingers lightly to stroke the side of her cheek. When his hand accidentally bumps against a brand-new wound, he struggles to contain his sobs. It aches worse than anything I've ever experienced, which makes the suffering unbearable. The car is on fire and the flames are rising high into the sky.

He was frowning rather than smiling. As his gaze rested on them, he removed his eyeglasses, terrifying the rest of them with his eyes. Rory had grown accustomed to seeing things like this after caring for elderly folks who could hardly stand or see. She wasn't terrified of him; rather, she was captivated by him and curious about how he had lost his vision. She was curious as to what had led a man like him to lose his ability to see. Is it because he witnessed the death of his parents when he was a child? Was it the reason his eyes were taken away from him as well?

My jaw clenched at his words as I gazed into nothingness. “Additionally, the memory loss you're experiencing is a result of your head injury. It is not uncommon in cases like yours. Right now, your mind is protecting you from the trauma of the event, which is why you don't remember the accident. In some time, the memories may return, or they may not. Either way, we will do the best that we can.” I swallowed hard, my new reality dawning on me. “So… I woke up, and just like that, I was blind?”
