“Give me an hour–no wait, book a flight for Penelope—back to New York. Then one for us to Tokyo.”
He gave a short nodding, and turned towards the elevator without another word.
Taking a deep breath, bracing myself for impact, because the little getaway is over, and life just got serious. I went back into the room, Penelope was already sitting up in bed. Her hair was a wild, beautiful mess, tangled–sort of, from sleep and sex and too many hours in my arms. My shirt hung loosely on her frame, slipping off one shoulder. Her legs were bare beneath the hem, and for a second, I just stood there, staring, trying to freeze that moment and trap it somewhere in my chest.
