Colin and Penelope’s story is so amazing. Finding out that Penelope was Lady Whistledown was shocking both to Colin and to me. She really hid it so well. I continue reading from where I stopped, which was the carriage scene. The book became a bit steamy and I really enjoy it. I continued reading in silence until I finished the book.

EMBER’S POV “You don’t tell us you can tell life from death,” Penelope says, and she draws a stool up to her side of the counter and lowers herself onto it, slow, folding her hands like a woman settling in to enjoy something. “You show us. It’s the only test we’ve ever set, it’s older than the shop, and we have watched a great many people fail it.” She nods at her husband’s busy hands. “Penny’s going to make you a few things. And then we’ll find out whether you understand what you’ve been asking us to sell, or whether you read a book and got brave.”

He said to Hailey. Hailey cowered into the sofa behind her as she tried to escape the intensity of his gaze. *** “Is that her?” Jared King inquired as his wheelchair moved automatically towards her. The black cloth was pulled over Penelope’s head. One of Jared’s men splashed some water on his face, waking her up. Penelope jolted awake and struggled with the binds on her wrists and ankles. Her eyes adjusted to the dim light. “Did you do this?” She asked, surprisingly calm when her eyes fell on the man in the automated wheelchair.

She said and her overly excited friend looked down at her hands her eyes widening as she realized that Thea was still carrying her laptop and books. Pen, or Penelope Grace, was Thea’s friend since their first days in college. Pen’s passion had always been chemistry. Which matched her hair and her fiery temper. Whenever she was in the lab, she looked like those classical mad scientists who were always dealing with chemical explosions with how her hair was always strewn everywhere. “Here let me help you with that,” Pen said as she helped her carry a bunch of books into her office. “So what made you run to me in such a hurry?” Thea asked.

“We don't know. When we saw it, we were to eager not to get caught with it if one of Dr. Alvin's men came out so we just found it and the next second, it was back where we had taken it from.” “If it was meant for someone else — which I pray it is —then the person must have taken it from there. Either ways, we'll have to check it.” They all fell silent again. The thought of what had happened last year or at least something related to it happening this year again was thrilling. “Penelope and Derek are no more schooling here,” Trisha said, wanting to their minds off the challenge that had posed itself to them. “Huh? Why?” Wilkes asked.

I called but nobody answered. Is she asleep? But it's already past 1pm! "Penelope?" I called again. I grabbed the door knob and tried to open it. IT'S UNLOCKED. I peeked inside and the first thing I saw was a huge pink bed. "Penelope?" I called again and decided to come inside. I walked towards the left side of her bed and saw a table with a row of picture frames. One was a little Penelope maybe around 6 or 7 years old, wearing a long pink gown and a high heels that is obviously not hers. It's too big for a kid like her in this picture.

With one glance around, she slips into the recliner and downloads the next book in the series. The large mahogany grandfather clock in the hall chimes its tune. It's only chimed three times since she started reading. The tune echoes up through the house and reverberates through her ears. Staring at the words The End on the Kindle in her lap, she blinks in disbelief. She has finished the remaining three books in the series, in record time according to the percentage statistics on the Kindle. Her eyes flew across the pages at record speed and yet, she can still recall every line with insane precision, every plot twist connects.
