I didn’t realize how much I’d missed her until now.
“How was your vacation?” I ask once we part.
“Vacation?” She furrows her brows.
“Yeah, you went to our Galveston place.”
“Oh, right. It was more of a spiritual awakening than a vacation. It was great. Oh, hey, Jill.” She turns to Jill and greets her.
“Hey, you look good. It must have been some awakening,” Jill says.
“Oh, it was,” Gia says.
“Were there men?”
“If you two are going to talk about men, I’m going to go,” I say as I turn and head toward my office. Gia grabs my hand, and I stop.
